Right, but we also had a private workout for Brick.

Do you think we could trade for Leinert instead then? I'm all ears.

Why not have private workouts with all major prospects in the draft. All but one is a future opponent and it helps to know their intangibles. All these workouts are smokescreens IMO. The pick is still either Gholston or McFadden.

And if both are gone by 6? Its very likely to be the case at this point.

Its good to view several of the high end prospects. I still doubt we take Ryan though.

I can see Ryan to ATL, Gholston to STL and McFadden to OAK.......What do we do then

And we spent a mid 2nd round pick on a QB, thats a high pick still.

This isn't going to be the most popular position on the board, but I feel that Ryan would be a very good pick.

We do have more pressing needs, but its hard to argue with drafting a qb, if this coaching staff does not feel that they have found their qb. Ryan is an excellent qb and playmaker and I believe is a top notch prospect.

Think about it. Which situation would you rather be in, the browns or ours? The Browns have two franchise qb's on their team, we have zero (unless Clemens steps up, which I am not ruling out).

Best case scenario, Clemens develops and Ryan never sees the field and we have trade bait. Worst case scenario, Clemens does not develop and in two years Ryan has had two years to master the offense and step right in.

Thats exactly what the Browns did. They had a guy with upside and potential but couldn't truly cut it, so they drafted a QB in the 1st round to groom for the starting position. The potential was reached, and the 1st rounder sits and learns. If thats our situation i have no problem with it.

I'm not really for drafting a QB in this draft, i don't think there is that "franchise guy" this year. So I would prefer not to take a QB. I would much rather trade back in the first round and pick up a top CB/WR or both if a deal with Dallas is done. We really are an up and coming team and we are only a few people away from being a great team who when we gain a year of experience, so that in 2009 we can make a run. So if we could pick up some of these guys in the first 2 rounds some how,

Gholston, Lofton, Sweed, Groves, Branden Albert, Gosder Cherilus, Rodgers-Cromartie, Mike Jenkins, Leodis Meckelvin, Long, Long, James Hardy, Dre Moore.

Obviously we can't get all of these guys, hell we'd be lucky to come away with 2. but really if we can bring in 2-3 of these guys our team will be greatly improved.

I agree 100%.....if we come away with any 2 of the players in your list...we'd be on the right track.

I also believe there isn't a "franchise-type" QB in this year's draft....so if we used a high draft pick on a QB, I would consider that a disappointment. Let Clemens command the huddle this year...if he stinks it up....then address the QB position in 2009. It's too early to jump the gun...IMO.

Ryan seems like he will be a Good QB but we cant pass on McFadden or Gholston but if there both gone then i could live with it.

I would definitely not want our #6 to go for a QB. I wouldn't rule out the 2nd round pick, but not the first.

I want the Jets to get a player in the first round who can come in and take over a starting job right out fo the box and help this team. Even if we have to select someone not necessary valued in the top 10 - as long as we are guaranteed a player who can help us now; that is the most important.

True, but that was only after they filled a need on the O-line and after Quinn had fallen far enough that picking him justified the cost. I just can't see the Jets taking Ryan while other glaring holes exist. Now if all their top picks to fill those holes are gone and Ryan is rated above the rest of who's left, then I can see taking him, but I would think it to be much more unlikely than likely.

I personally like Brohm and Flacco better for us, but I really wouldn't mind Ryan much as long as McFadden, the Longs, and Gholston are all off the board. It wouldn't be my ideal pick, but there is some good logic in the selection and I trust the FO to deem whether he's NFL worthy or not.
