Check out the video of the top 16 teams on NFL.com's front page. Jets don't make it, but they are mentioned as a "snub".

The J-E-T-S played well enough for a number 6 pick in the draft. How can they be put in the top 16? A lot of moves were made but on paper they still are behind the playoff teams of last year. That's what projections are.

I agree with Rod. How can we be a "snub" for the top sixteen teams if we played (at best) sixth worst in the league last year based on won-lost? Face it, we stunk last year. STUNK. We've taken steps to address the big problems, whether those steps work (and to what extent) will determine whether or not we get any respect. I think calling us a "snub" for the top sixteen is premature. For once, I'm more cautious about the Jets than "media". Wow, this board must be rubbing off on me.

I would tend to agree with this because even though we have clear potential at QB, it is very far from being proven. I say this about Clemens and even Chad (in terms of last year); they both were simply not good at all.

What scares me the most is Chad was abyssmal in pre-season last year and it carried right over to the regular season - pretty scary; being as though we have him down as competing for a potential starting role. Chad had better do a hell of a lot better behind this line; but, in the end, he will still be Chad coming with all his givens.

Clemens has the larger upside, but is still very raw IMO. He also has to look infinitely better behind our new offensive line or we will be QB shopping next spring. I hope Clemens wins the starting job; he better.......................

I saw an article yesterday that placed the Jets in the 22 spot in terms of offseason preformance thus far. I thought about posting it but what's the point? People will just get pissed off and cry foul.

The Jets are damned if they do and damned if they don't. If they have a bad season, everyone already called it in the preseason when the moves were labeled desperate. If the Jets make the playoffs, they had a cream-puff schedule to help get them there. Just let it ride people, and lets see where it takes us.

what if they put atlanta in the top 5 based on some fa signings (for example, after atlanta and the jets swap 1st round pics for atlanta's 3rd round pic plus chad pennington)?

The Jets aren't in the top 16 teams in the NFL right now, even with the offseason they've had so far. On the bright side they're no longer in the bottom 6 though.

Is there really any team other than the Falcons or Dolphins who we can honestly say we are better than at this point?

We're clearly better than the dregs in Miami, Oakland, SF, Atlanta, Kansas City and St Louis. After that it really depends on how the QB situation works out and how the defensive line shakes out and a bunch of other factors that we're not going to know about for awhile. Two or three injuries to the wrong people would put us right back down at the bottom of the pack again, so that's always a factor too.

We are better than Kc. Sf, Oakland, St Louis are in the same boat we are. IF a few things break right they could be a first round one and done playoff team as well.

Cincinatti-I would take Palmer, houz, Chad and Rudi Johnson over anybody we have on offense at their respective positions. We have a better o-line. There defense is horrible.
Houston-On the verge of being very good! Do your Homework!
Tennessee-Did the Titans make the playoffs with Vince Young throwing to absolute bums!

If Steven Jackson and Bulger stay healthy St Louis is a whole different team. Sf and their Underachieving talent was the pick of the so called experts to go to the playoffs last year. The talent is still there. As a Jet fan do you get the feeling that Mr Bill will help design a gameplan to beat us at least once this year.

Well depends on what your expectations are. If you are thinking of being WORLD CHAMPs they you can forget about it. Maybe we have a shot at 9-7 or maybe we can squeak out 10-6 if all things work in our favor. I would say entry in the dance is most iffy at best & for sure if we entered we would be ejected immediately in the 1st round

Couldn't have said it better myself. Folks, when you win 4 games, it doesn't matter how many big signings you make - you're still a team that won 4 games the year before heading into the season.

Thats something that seems to be overlooked on Jets boards. It's unlikely that the Phins will continue to be our whipping boys for much longer.
