Even if they ended up with Jake Long they could then move Woody back to his natural position and have one of the best OLs in the NFL. Probably the best period.
Are you going to tell me Calvin Pace and Alan Faneca are worth what they are going to make? If that is a bad contract what about Bryan Thomas too?
What do we do with Brandon Moore then? We signed him to an extension not too long ago, and he's not that far off from Woody. Either way that will be money wasted, we really don't need Jake Long now. Why get him when we have other areas of need.
I think we all agree BT isn't living up to his contract, we definately overpaid for Faneca, but given the need it makes sense. Wait and see on Pace
Well, yeah he probably is. They brought him in to stop the run and not be a pass rusher. Since we couldn't stop anybody for the second year in a row it would seem he didn't work out. Since we couldn't pressure the QB for who knows how many yeras in a row it would seem we were at least right on one count with him.
He's very far off from Woody except that he's younger. And he would probably get cut or he would have to restructure.
It's not about the money, it's about the results. We know what we got out of the people we had last year. We can only wait and see what we get out of the people we have this year.
This trade "rumor," sounds like two guys on a radio station in Oakland thinking of possible trades the Raiders might do. This trade doesn't make any sense whatsoever, on both sides! The Raiders have a pretty good defensive line and Coleman wouldn't fit that well in that defense (4-3, 3-4 mix). We'd be trading our best, young defensive lineman to possibly pick another DE/OLB? This rumor isn't even worth our time, folks.
I think you also have to remember that GM's are setting up all sorts of trades for different scenarios depending on how the players are coming off the board. This trade could be pending purely on what may be left at the pick at the time.
He's not old but he certainly isn't young. He's two years older than Robertson and has been in the league 7 years.
No, you're trading him and the person (or picks) you could get for the #6 choice for the person you can get for the #4 choice, which is a very different thing.
Not when the person you can get at #6 is nobody you can use. Now that's a completely different thing.
1. Dolphins - Long/Long 2. St. Louis - Long/Long 3. Atlanta - Dorsey/Ellis/Matt Ryan 4. Raiders - McFadden or trade with C'Boys/Gholston 5. KC - O-Line probably/Matt Ryan 6. Jets - Gholston/McFadden If the Raiders don't draft Gholston, they would want McFadden, but they have a few capable RBs like we do. Logical thinking-take Gholston. That leaves us with the Father o' Fumbling, which means we need to send the Arkansas RB to Arkansas alum Jerry Jones. The Cowboys will be willing because they feel like they are close to NFC dominance, and will need a playmaker to battle the rest of the East now that TO is in his mid-30s. He will also compliment Marion Barber III well, I think.
Move up? I'm not so sure that it would be the wisest thing to do. Even if CL and VG are gone, why not pick-up GD and put him at LDE? Let who ever falls to the 6th spot fall into our lap. No need to lose a 3-4 DE and a pick just to move up a couple of slots. Silly.
Oakland spent big money on a few guys like Kelly, Walker and Hall so the budget may not be all that big....So Oakland basically sees this as a way to land an extra body as well as get the guy they probably like out of all prospects......Dorsey. They save some money in the trade down as well. Also, Pair Dorsey along with Kelly and Oakland would be happy, especially since Sapp retired. They dont have a 2nd round pick, and the lack of depth of DTs in this draft isnt too great so they will want to pickup the best one, and a friend with their franchise QB Russell. MIA- C.Long STL- Gholston ATL- Ryan NYJ- McFadden KC- J. Long OAK- Dorsey
Don't tell me what I am implying when you have no clue about it. What I am SAYING is that if only Ellis, Dorsey or Ryan are there at #6 then they are useless to us. We have only one choice and that is to take somebody that is maybe worth the 9 or 10 pick or less. NOBODY will trade up to our spot because if they are interested in any of those guys they will just wait knowing we won't take them anyway. Maybe they will trade up to the Pat's position or even #8 and get the same guy they want at far less cost. They will never trade with us, there is no reason to.
First of all, what is your problem? Second, only a fool would think that a #6 overall pick is worthless, and not only were you implying it, you're still saying it explicitly. ANYONE would trade up to the #6 spot over the #9 or 10 spot if they only have to give up the exact same package to get there, since that gives them more flexibility to take whomever they want. It might be the case that the #6 pick is worth less to the Jets than it might be to another team, or in another year, but if you really think that it is worthless you're out of your mind.
If my assumption is correct and the Jets are targeting 3 guys for their pick is trading a Kenyon Coleman that much of a sacrifice to ensure one of them? I dont think so.
