Groves for LB, Hardy at WR. Probably not Flacco in the first or second, but he should be strongly considered. You can never have enough good QB's. Unless we want to rely on Brooks Bollinger or giving Vinny another 1 year deal. I agree that you can't truly judge Clemens based on last years play. But, it would be nice to have someone back there with a lot of potential just in case Clemens really does suck.
Same here, the guy is a bullrusher with pretty good speed for his size and he's as strong as an ox. Having Ellis and Long as bookends in 3-4 and 4-3 would be fierce. He may be slightly undersized as far as league 3-4 ends go, but we don't play a strictly 3-4 defense either.
This seems to me like a move that is going to be made due to the fact that we can't dump D-Rob. Rather than cut him they'll just take the hit and move him to DE, while moving the incumbent in order to add additional draft firepower...
I don't know what to think of this rumor. First off, what would be the cap hit for trading Coleman? He wasn't signed long ago, so it must be significant. If we do make the deal though, I would think we'd be targetting one of the Longs or Dorsey, with the assumption that Dorsey or Chris Long can project to 3-4 DE.
well this would ensure us getting one of the BIG 4 but im not so sure that it would make sense for the raiders. If there are only 5 guys really worth taking, why should they trade down to 6.
uh..we are also jumping ahead of Oakland in that deal. not just KC. And I think it's a great deal. It guarantees that a player we can use right away will still be on the board. You have to look at it like this is Coleman as good as any of the top 4 players in this draft? Because that is who you are trading him for and I don't think you can even compare them.
Because that would only be the beginning for them. They get Coleman and then would flip the #6 pick as well. They only have 1 pick in the first 4 rounds as of right now.
I understand we are ahead of Oakland, we are trading with Oakland. If this trade goes through, no matter what happens Oakland wins. So who are they looking at DMC or Gholston? Arent we doing the same thing? so why trade up if we want both like they do, we'll get either at a cheaper price. If we are trading up solely on the reason to have the choice of both it is a dumb move, because we have made the moves in free agency to sit and be "flexible" at 6 like Tanny has been preaching all along. If the pats are moving to 5 and we want to stay ahead of them because DMC and Gholston will certainly be gone with that scenario then ok fine move up... but Oakland has us by the balls with this trade.
Of course none of us know who is looking at who but some mocks now have Golston going #1, McFadden to Oakland, some combination of Long, Ryan and the other Long going to the other two. At 6 we could only have Ryan on the board who doesn't help us at all this year. At 4 we probably get Chris Long, Golston or McFadden all who are light years better than Coleman in my opinion and we don't have to give up a draft pick to do it. If we luck out and get Chris Long then Coleman is a second stringer anyway. This would be the steal of the century. I think it also frees up a lot of cap dollars too, doesn't it? I think Coleman gets paid pretty well but I'm not sure.
Coleman is getting a crapload of money. With Long on the board i have no problem jumping to 4 with getting rid of Coleman. His cap room allows us to pay Long, and i guess we are stuck with DRob, and he'll go to DE. I see Long as a OLB, his change of direction, speed, power, and overall athleticism makes him better than Vrabel, Thomas, or Suggs when he hits the NFL. Long is the only guy i'm doing this trade for. Otherwise, i feel its not worth it.
I thought he was an OLB too. Lately people are saying he would still play DE in the NFL so I'm not sure. Maybe a Thomas type who plays both.
it seems to me that the jets interest in the 4th pick is the fear that they might lose out on the big four in this draft at the 6 slot: chris long, jake long, dmac, and gholston
You guys first need to see who the #1 pick is interested in before we start to narrow it down to two.
The move makes sense to do now. There will be cap savings. They would be assured a pick they can use this year and you can't trade players on the clock. As you have all seen they need to be able to pass a physical. It's actually a no lose situation for both teams. Oakland has committed a ton of money to Russell and Hall, they don't really want a #4 pick right now. They will take the #6, I am sure, and spin it down again.
