Here is Pete Abraham's 25-man roster prediction: http://yankees.lhblogs.com/2008/03/05/first-try-at-projecting-the-roster/ Mussina as the 3rd starter worries me a little bit (yes I do realize that except for Opening Day and the playoffs which number you are in the rotation isn't really important), and I would be disappointed to see Matsui on the bench, especially after a solid second half for him last year.
I think Duncan makes that roster easily. I can't see any way he doesn't with the spring he is having.
Clueless Joe screwed up one more elbow on his way out. Luckily, it signed with Colorado this off-season. http://www.denverpost.com/rockies/ci_8493656
Yanks lose their fourth straight to go to 3-4 in Spring Training. Also, Francisco Cervelli fractured his wrist and Matsui is expected to play tommorrow. http://yankees.lhblogs.com/2008/03/08/fractured-wrist-for-cervelli/ http://yankees.lhblogs.com/2008/03/08/matsui-expected-to-play-tomorrow/
Hughes had a nice outing: 4 IP, 0 H, 2 BB, 1K No one hit the ball hard. The two walks were a little weird. His command was fantastic for the first three innings, then walked two guys on four straight pitches (each) in the fourth. Overall, though... a solid, solid outing.
Who cares what it's called - Yankee Stadium will be no more. Anything will pale in comparison and us Jet fans who are constantly shelling out more and more money for more and more inconvenience every year to go to games will not be able to afford a hot dog at the new stadium let alone any form of season tickets
So, Hughes and Igawa have both thrown hitless ball in two appearances. Things are looking bright atm especially if they have managed to get Igawa on track. He could be really important in the BP this year with all the young starters. He did give up a few walks yesterday but managed to pitch out of it unlike what happened last year.
I like that they did not just give away Igawa. They spent alot of money on him now let's see if he can do it. he may still stink but sometimes it takes players a year or more to get adjusted and start performing.
Sanchez comes back from that surgery in May or June..he's another with commanding stuff if it's still there.
Just noticed that they only have one off day in April which seems very unusual. Normally a 5th starter isn't that important early in the year but it will be this time.
Mussina throws 5 perfect innings, he npw has back to back impressive outings. Hopefully this translates into the regular season.
It's just amazing, Girardi may be suspended for the season opener. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/b...3-14_girardi_may_be_suspended_for_opener.html Through all the year our guys were beaned and brawls were started by other teams no other Mangares were suspended and I don't remember many players being suspended but of course the Yanks FINALLY start to fight back and they'll get punished more harshly than other teams.
Did you see the play happen? Seriously, Duncan deserves a 5 game suspension, and Girardi should be punished for not having control of his players. Besides, a pitcher was ejected early for throwing at a batter. That's an auto-warning these days. After that, there's no room for retaliation, and suspensions will come for further incidents.
As I said, the retaliation had already occurred. It's then Girardi's responsibility to stop his players from continuing the fight. Duncan is his responsibility. Does it suck? Yes. Is it right? Yes.
