According to Adam Schefter, the Jets and the Patriots are very interested in the Ty Law... Schefter said that Ty Law is very close to Darrelle Revis. A one year contract couldn't hurt if he doesn't want a HUGE amount of money.
I dont like it- The secondary is one of the team's strengths with Revis and Rhodes- Both young and improving- Law is old and decaying- I dont like it Just draft a starting cornerback in round 1 or 2- Hopefully theyre just driving up the price for NE
Why not get both? Ty Law can mentor all of the young players. I don't know why you think the secondary is so strong. We lack depth at corner and our safety spot opposite Rhodes is weak.
he's better then anything we've got on the other side of revis so i would say go for it for a one or two year deal. my only concern is didn't he leave the Jets on bad terms (or at least not on good terms)???
He'd be an instant upgrade as a number two corner. We'd have a great shot at making a playoff run right way with a solid PAIR of corners.
I'll take him. I doubt he'd be too expensive. He's still solid, and the connection with Revis is a positive.
yeah i think Revis and Ty Law are from the same town so they are very close, if we could sign him for one year to mentor Revis AND a young cb it couldnt hurt us.
Law played well for the Jets in 2005, but weren't there a lot of people claiming that he was a terrible influence on Justin Miller and Kerry Rhodes that year, in terms of dedication and professionalism?
Revis and Law are friends. Law was calling him before the draft telling him about the process, and they are both from Aliquippa, PA. Having Law as a dependable backup is important plus the mentoring he will give the young kids. Worked with Jets and Mangini before. Good pickup if we do.
Thats more of a Herman Edwards camp mentality IMO. Mangini will have none of that here, i don't believe he could get away with it in NE, so i expect the same here.
I would like this signing, he'd be a solid #2. Not only does he know Revis, but remember he also has a strong connection to Mangini from when he was the Pats DB coach.
Nah man...just signing a number two corner won't give us a complete defense. Abram Elam is the weak link on this defense. We need some depth along the defense line, at inside linebacker, and in the secondary. After free agency and the draft, we'll know if our defense is "set".
Law stinks of Herm. I dont like Law's age, declining skills or attitude or the reminder of Herm Edwards that he represents. Hopefully we're just driving up the price for NE. Im all for taking care of our various holes on defense- Lets just do it through the draft.
