The frustrating thing about him is, he's always had the speed, but takes piss-poor angles sometimes and lacks the instinct Revis has, for example, in anticipating where the WR is going to break or cut. Miller loses them at this point and by the time he gets there, the guy has 10 yards. Revis has what Ray Mickens had, the ability to stick to the guy like glue and at least break up or disrupt the pass. Of course, Revis takes it a step further because he's bigger than Mickens was. I don't know. It's almost like Miller doesn't concentrate. I'm serious. I remember his first couple of weeks at that first TC, where he was dropping an inordinate amount of KOs/Punts. I mean, an unbelievable amount of them. It was a lack of concentration, big time. Mike Westhoff finally worked on his confidence level enough and he eventually lost a lot of the dropsies, but it's almost like he's still out there in never-never land when it comes to being the complete, tuned-in, totally aware cornerback.
I hope I'm wrong , but I don't really get any good vibes from Miller......I just remember hard tackles after an 8-10 yard gain. A good player for sure - but not ALL THAT if ya know what I mean.
Revis and Miller sounds the ultimate fast, talented CB tandem. We all know he's a great kick returner, but he has to be more than that now, especially with the season leon had last year. I think he'll prove to be a very good, shutdown corner as #2 CB alongside Revis. And we will have the best kick return team in the league, put miller and leon back there and they can't kick away from both of them.
His statements aren't going to make anyone think he hasn't been a bust but I really think his mindset is in the right direction. Hopefully he takes that into the classroom and it helps him as a player because I would love for him (a #2 selection) to pan out for us.
For him to "be around the corner" he needs to learn to occasionally turn his head around when covering a wide receiver.
Are you kidding me? Trying to pin that on Mller? He hasn't even played enough for that. The JETS DB's have ALL Done it and it's annoying
Not a miller fan he is not a great corner. He drops the ball to much as a return guy. At this point the kid is bust.
Hoobash: Tell me how he can be a bust when he was chosen to the Pro bowl last season! He was drafted late in the second round and a good return man should be rated that high. But now that Leon also kicks ass at returning balls he is a bit superfluos, but I would not say he is a bust.
I think it has to do with draft philosophy. I don't think you can realistically spend a second round pick on a return man without the guy being at least competent on a squad other than STs.
I agree with you, but he has made a big impact on ST. His covering was potentially going to be more than serviceable last year, yet he was on IR before we could see that. This upcoming year is really his judgment year.
I'm not as optimistic, but I have been surprised many times and would welcome one in this category. Miller, in his first 2 seasons playing, came off to me like a total punk. Always mouthing off after the play regardless of how he performed during said play. Reports about him having to be separated from Ty Law in Camp Hermie's classroom because they would not stop cutting up. Drawing idiotic penalties. Getting caught out of position in ways that you would only expect of a clumsy safety. And then there was the incident where he ran from the police, but we will probably never hear another word about that again because it involved a staff member of a current presidential candidate. Signs pointed to trouble from what I saw. It's nice to hear that he is being mentored by a guy in Cox who was able to overcome some of his own behavioral issues and compete at the highest level, but that could be a bunch of fluff, too. Justin has been out of football now for an entire season, and has been rehabbing for most of that time so it's not like he was able to maintain the 'improved technique' that some people say they saw last offseason. I think it's a long shot to expect him to step in at the #2 corner spot, and the fact that the team has been openly shopping for a #2 to start opposite Revis tells me a lot about how the CS thinks as well.
I think he will be just fine. He has the right mindset to comeback to this team and contribute in a major way. I think this injury is something that was needed to allow him to progress as a player and person in this league. He is hungry to show what he is capable of and that is the first step. Obviously, the 2nd is to show up where your words left off. I think he will..
now that we got through all the hes stupid, boneheaded blah blah blah that this board is so well known for. what are his projections for this year? is he on schedule to be back for tc? so that he can continue to progress as it appeared last year he had and compete for the cb opposite revis? ill tell you this much if he is on schedule to be back we will see what the cs thinks about him on draft day. cause if they dont draft a cb, which i hope they dont i would imagine that they think he can do the job with another lower tier guy ie poteat. needless to say for the teams sake i hope he can cause i would hate to spend another top pick on a cb for the 2nd year in a row.
He has all the tools and I'm rooting for him! I'd like to see him and Revis on the outside, they can both run, hit, and make plays. Miller is physical, he can run, and he can hit. He just needs to mature and improve his technique
??? You obviously haven't watched his play. J-Mil is still around because the guy can play. Anyone who has watched I MEAN REALLY WATCHED his play noticed that he made improvements. Does that mean he's the answer? No. But for people to say that he sux or doesn't have a chance means they are just spewing BS. Anyone remember him doing a good job vs the Colts elite? or How about vs some of the other WR's? Well he did but no one wants to give him credit for it. Keep sleepin on my boy.... :breakdance:
just as long as he keeps his head on straight. was always good for 1 bone head penalty, per game. always remember him being pulled during a game for that.
