McKelvin could end up being a bust, you never know these things...and Kerry Rhodes might not re-sign. He most likely will, but nothing is for sure until he signs the contract.

Abram Elam, Eric Smith, or a rookie...it doesn't matter. EVERY postion has to be filled by a SOLID and PROVEN starter if you want to call it the "best".

    Great sign!!

Now please guys, lets stop the McFadden talk. Its been enough, this shows that we are not even thinking about taking McFadden, if we were thinking about taking McFadden and he wasn't there we would have relied on drafting another RB later on in the draft.

This right here shows what I've been saying all along, there is no way we take McFadden in the draft, none what so ever.

yes, the other Safety spot needs to be upgraded before we can really say the Secondary is elite; CB too.

but as most of us know, the Secondary is only as good as the pass-rush.

im not ruling out McFadden bc i don't like to rule out anything, but my gut tells me he's not the pick, even if he's there. i think the FO has shown it really doesn't care about the criticism it faces, and that includes the criticism it will face for passing on McFadden.

if he's sitting there at 6, they probably want to trade down to someone who covets him. the signing of Chatman reduces our leverage a little bit, but if someone really wants him, they'll move up, in my opinion.

i still think if we can't trade down, Gholston is a more important pick to making this a championship caliber team. we've seen teams that don't have elite running backs win the Superbowl; but most of the time, an elite Defense gets you there, if not wins you one.

Jesus... stop whining about us not taking McFadden. It's annoying to see every other post "Now we can put McFadden to bed"

I didn't know he annoyed you that much.

The signing of Chatman or Pace will have no effect on taking either Gholston or McFadden.

The Jets have set them selves up nicely to draft whom they feel is the BPA. End of story. They have plugged holes in FA and will look toward the future with the draft. All in all a good plan.

They have the flexibilty to stay at 6 and draft any position or move down if an offer presents itself. A very good place to be in entering a draft.

Yea it does annoy me that much, when 40% of the posts here are McFadden related it gets alittle annoying.

We're not taking McFadden, theres no way Tangini wraps up that much money on the RB position. We have our 3 RBs going into the season, and they will run behind a much improved offensive line and a very solid FB. Our number 6 pick will be used elsewhere.

I would rather see us not take McFadden but unfortunately this signing won't end the D-Mac talk.

I like the signing though... Chatman played well behind a pretty bad line in Miami.

Enough of the "No McFadden" talk.

He signed a 1 YEAR DEAL, Jones will be 31 after this season? So RB will once again be a need since I doubt Jones is here for his 4 years on his deal.

Drafting McFadden still makes a ton of sense. Him and Leon together for at least 4-5 years sounds great to me.

Drafting a RB sounds great, but drafting McFadden does not. You don't need a "game changing" RB in this league to win, you need a solid offensive line and a nice one two punch. I see us drafting a RB early in 09, but not this year.

How does signing Chatman as a 3rd rb mean no mcfadden anymore than long term deals for pace, thomas, and bowens means no gholston, ellis and coleman means no long, barrett and miller means no CB or coles and cotchery means no WR. I think we are just doing an amazing job of making sure we have no blatant needs, which 1)lets us choose bpa on draft day, which at 6 if available will still probably be mcfadden, whether the haters think so or not, and 2)gives us leverage in draft day trades since we dont obviously "need" any one player or position. This is just good management

I'm not sure how the Chatman signing effects Washington. They are pretty much clones. It certainly has nothing to do with whether they do or don't sign McFadden.

I cant believe there is still all of this talk about McFadden. You should know by now that he is not a Mangini guy. And all of this talk about trading down. I can see that but I can also see us trading up to get Chris Long. He's the only guy in the top six I can see our FO going nuts over, and we should be able to package a player and/or picks to get into the top 3.

I don't think their gonna take McFadden now, because we indeed look good at the RB position now. I like Gholston next to Pace or Long will be a upgrade as well!

Your avatar has a nice look to it... His name fits well of the back of a Jets jersey.

LOVE this signing! TJ is our all-purpose back, Chatman is our thunder and then we finish 'em off with a little Leon lightning!

"Who the HELL are we gonna draft?!" I ask myself. And then myself answered, "Think about it. Mikey T is making a name for himself. And he loves to manuever on draft day. We're getting Chris Long. We're getting Chris Long!!!"

So, are you saying they are going to cut Washington then? It seems you are. They don't need both of them unless they make Washington strictly a returner.

How do you know what the Jets final draft board looks like if they dont even know what it looks like yet? I guarantee you that signing a thrird string RB to a 1 year deal has absolutely no impact on their draft board.
