I don't see this happening...again I'm thinking/guessing they'll draft a RB in the later rounds. Everything thats been said about McFadden was said about Reggie Bush and I'm so glad we didn't fall into the hype. I can't see this CS drafting McFadden after we made that trade for TJ.

6'1" - 238 lbs. We've been using TE Joe Kowalewski (6'-250 lbs) for some blocking, but I guess Richardson has a lot more experience and he IS a Pro Bowler.

Richardson packs a punch. The guy knows how to get it done. He's paved the way for a lot of 1,000 yard rushers. He's also played behind some elite guards - Hutchinson in Minny, Shields in KC, and NOW Faneca is NY.

Can anybody tell me why we sign a Blocking-FB? Neither Shotty nor Callahan really use a pure blocker. We cut the last one we had, because we didn?t use him. The Days when Richardson was a thread in the passinggame seem long ago. A good H-Back seemed much more obvious, imo.

I don?t want to bash the signing, i just want to understand.

People thinking that this is all just preparation to pick DMC at #6 are failing to understand that we are actually just filling the major holes on our roster, the ones we neglected to fill the past 2 offseasons. I understand the mindset involved in thinking that they are getting ready for a big-time, big-money runner, but this is actually just what a lot teams do when they are rounding out a roster to compete in a tough division.

I wouldn't bash the McFadden pick if our FO signs off on him, but these signings don't all strike me as support for a possible draft pick who might not even be there. That's shallow thinking. They look morel like they're preparing themselves to go BPA to me.

I think you're right, as well as Richardson coming in on goal line carries to block for TJ up the middle... our red zone scoring was anemic last year.

In light of the Run DMC talk. The way this FA season has gone I would tend to believe that the first pick will be on a defensive player. It's gonna be a corner or a DE. Plus who's to say another team wont trade for our 6 like a Dallas and give the JETS multiple picks go get more players to fill other needs. This is a great opportunity with an upcoming easier schedule for all these aquisitions to gell together and make a serious run on a tougher '09 schedule because I feel they will slightly overachieve due to an easier '08 schedule.

Wait, are we actually going to use a fullback this year? What happened to TJ lining up 8 yards in the backfield with no lead blocker? Oh yeah that didn't work out so well.

Richardson blocked for Priest Holmes, Larry Johnson, and Adrian Peterson. Not a bad resume.

Now we just need a real back.

We sign the number one Lineman on the market and a guard.
    Draft a blocking Fb
Sign a player that plays Ghoulstons positon
Sign a Tackle so we don't have to draft that with a high pick either.
No corner backs are rated as high as we pick

    ALL SIGNS POINT TO Mcfadden!
Or trading out of the pick if we can find a sucker which I doubt.

I cant tell if this bolsters or lowers the fact of getting DMC, but yeah he is one of the premire lead blockers

Everybody is looking at the starters we have signed and thinks that we are just set now and can spend a luxury pick. I don't think that's the case. Every team that truly wants to compete from game 1 through the playoffs needs something other than a slough of solid starters... DEPTH AND YOUTH. We are getting young in some areas, but signing these guys doesn't mean that our O-line is set, our defense is ready to compete, and this is not taking into account the injuries that happen every year. We need depth, guys.

Ehh, Just because SI says that about Jones doesn't mean anything.

I'm still see McFadden being drafted and TJ trades for a draft pick in late first round and early 3rd round.
I've been trying to say that all this time. We're leaving ourself at a position that if RUN DMC is taken, we can just pick up Gholston.

I think you're right. And the more I think about it, the moves we've made will make us fairly adequate as far as the competition. It's easy to get carried away right now, with all the moves, and imagine this team a SB contender. But then I pinch myself and smell the coffee.

We're putting ourselves in a position to win a few more games than we did last year, but nor is Buffalo, NE or the Dolphins sitting on their hands either. Still, you've got to hand it to Tangini and Woody Johnson for stepping up and trying to make things right. I'm excitied about our possibilities, especially with our early draft position, but this is the NY Jets we're still talking about, so I can't let myself get to crazy.
