Haven't seen this posted yet....just saw Adam Schecter on NFL Network saying the Jets about to sign Damien Woody.

He likes the pick, Mike Lombardi didn't.

I dont know...Hes coming from an awful line I mean. He is versatile though.........Considering no one else has gone after him yet or even shown interest, this could be a decently cheap signing.

The problem is I am not sure how cheap it is going to be. I have a feeling he is going to get payed like one of the better lineman in this FA class, and while he does have good versatility along the line, we are not looking for a better Wade Smith. We are looking for someone to sure up our RT spot, and I don't know how well Woody can do that. I am not sure how much truth there is to this rumor, but I would hope that we would go after Olivea and Maurice Williams before Woody, personally.

Woody knows Mangini so there could be a discount involved and hopefully its a 1-2 year deal. I havent heard anyone else going after Woody besides NYJ so maybe we can get him for a nice price.

Cimini said the deal has been done for days in his morning blog post.

I agree we should draft a RT, but now I am not sure how early in the draft. I would hate to waste a 2nd rounder on a player that wont have a chance of playing for 3-4 years (Likely amount of time Woody would start, as he is only 31). Also the Jets may very well be looking at Bender as their RT of the future.

jasonjets...i'm in total agreeance. Detroit's o-line play from last season doesn't seem very encouraging. I like Olivea and M.Williams a lot more. No need to jump the gun on Woody yet....let's see what the other two bring to the table.

I think Woody will be someone to hold down the spot until Bender or a draft pick is ready to step in.

Yes, I still think we are going to draft a RT, most likely in the second round.

As per Parcells jargon, Woody is a hold the fort type guy. They are always necessary for any successful team. You can't have stars at every position.

    Woody is a 1-2 year guy. I expect a 2nd round OT.

At the very least, Woody represents depth with Super Bowl experience and familiarity with the coach.

We can draft lineman for depth and for the future in the middle rounds, we need to draft a starting cornerback in round 2
