Games aren't won on the sports page, ignore the haters. Faneca has been reputed by many to be the best guard in the league.
the steelers didnt let him go because his play was declining, he was the only bright spot on that line last year, this guy is a moron, olinemen have some of their best years in their 30's
This guy doesn't understand. Without an OL, the skill players are dead in the water. We have been working with "homegrown" talent, this is a great antedote.
do not listen to anything prisco has to say. his articles get dumber and dumber. i really think the sole reason he writes is to get attention by either riding teams/players dicks to get the attention of fans or by doing the opposite, trying to piss fans off. he'll be the same deuche bag applauding the jets for being aggressive in free agency if they end up with more wins than expected. also, if you read his power rankings, the only comment he ever has to make is about quarterback play. if a teams having a bad season, its clearly the quarterbacks fault to him. he doesnt know anything.
And what do guards do once they're developed, vanish into thin air? If you don't pay them someone else will. -Never mind that Faneca fills a need on the OL. -Never mind that he could help DBrick and Mangold develop. -Never mind that he could bolster our pathetic running game. -Never mind that he could be a mentor for future draft picks. -Never mind that it showed the Jets FO can get there guy in free agency. -Never mind that it shows a commitment to building a winner. Are there some negatives about this acquisition? Yea there could be, but the positive messages it seems to be sending far outweigh them right now in my opinion.
Well playing devils advocate here... I can see where he is coming from. I know that Faneca is not likely to be the best guard in the league for much longer, and he definately wont be 5 years from now. I was fine with the 4 year deal, that fifth year makes it difficult to get rid of him in the twilight of his career, if he doesnt retire by then. and 8 mill a year is definately paying a rediculously large amount of money, especially for a guy who only likely has 3 productive seasons left. I always hoped we would go after Bell, because I figured that Bell would be the better guard in 2 years anyways... Now i am in no way shape or form upset that we got Faneca, but I just would prefer to have had the youth so that we would be set for years without having to make an OL change... So dont you all get your panties in a bunch, we wont know how good a deal this was for 2 years. If Faneca is still playing up to snuff in year 3 of this deal, it was a great signing, however, if his play tails off before then, we overpaid, and there shouldnt be a single person on this board who should be attempting to refute that statement...
What beef does Pricksco have against the Jets. When he was a kid did a Jets player bang his Mom and wipe his dick off with Pricksco favorite blankie. It's the same old shit every year with him crapping on the Jets. He should be Tampon Boy for a WNBA team.
Prisco is half right. The amount of money we are paying Faneca is off the charts stupid but this team has negleceted the OL forever and this was the best of many bad options. When you neglect the lines in the draft and let your good home grown lineman walk you have to pay down the line. That's what we did and it was the right move.
faneca will still be good when he is 36, i bet you if we let him go then he will get a 2 year deal getting 5 mill at least
Thats a fair assessment, just a bummer that the writer decided to take a negative spin on the piece when there was plenty of positive things that he could have written about. It's his blog though, so whatever.
It's not just the Jets. I don't know if it's stupidity or trying to be different and outrageous, but he's always tried to be the guy who goes against the popular opinion. And he always looks like a dope when he does it.
