SI.com's Bucky Brooks reports the Dolphins have signed free agent LB Calvin Pace to a contract that will guarantee him over $20 million.
Brooks could be dead on here, but we're going to wait before assuming this is done until we hear it from one of the teams. Pace indicated to the Miami Herald late Friday that he wanted to visit the Jets before signing a deal.

lets hope this isnt true...i really want this guy

He's agreed on terms with miami, but will take the trip to NY anyway.

We really need to do some flirting with him tomorrow.

For that price tag, let the Fins have him. I'm not sold that he isn't just a contract-year wonder.

yeah um if he signs here, he just fucked overr the phins, Winfield style. honestly, i think Pace would be a solid signing, and we need a pass rushing OLB and even though he was a one year wonder, we could still use him. at that price though, i would rather put the money into a big time skill player such as Randy Moss....

What does agreed to terms mean? Does it mean they agreed orally but if Pace breaches the oral contract, theres no consequence for him?

It's a risk though, because if you don't get him you could be SOL in filling that hole with a quality player before the season starts. I'm still not sure about this guy though...don't really know enough about him to be for or against signing him. Thats what Mangini and Tanny get paid for anyway.

It's sort of like a College recruit who gives a verbal to a school. Doesn't mean he won't look around, and can't be woed away, just means, as of now he's a Lolphin to be.

There would be no penalty if he changed his mind, because no contract has been signed. Similar to Winfield and his wifey screwing the jets over a few years back.

I'm not really concerned whether the Jets sign Pace or not, I really want to see them draft Gholston anyway. Spend that money on Damian Woody.

Pace Not Set On Miami Just Yet
Saturday, March 01st 2008, 6:39 am by Chris Menn

A correction on the Calvin Pace story, thanks to contributor Pete F, the Miami Herald is reporting that Calvin Pace has not signed with the Dolphins and so his visit with the Jets will still occur. Pace will make his decision after he has met with Jets officials. It sounds like he would be happy in Miami but we’ll see.

From what was said it sounds like unless the Jets offer blows him away, he’ll end up with the Dolphins anyway.

If I were the Jets I would make sure he gets what he wants and never leaves the Jet offices without signing a contract. Adding Pace to Jenkins means our defense is headed in the right direction. Pace was a #1 pick and the only reason it took him so long to develop was a feak injury in rookie camp - he's the real deal!

I also read to day we are talking to Randall Gay - CB!

Agreed here that Pace IS the real deal. 8 to 12 sacks - 90+ tackles in our system. Just because you sign em doesn't mean you can't draft Gholston ... actually just puts the Jets in a position to draft whoever they want or is available. Or trade down ... what is the trade down value @ #6? I know some of you have the vaule chart if you could figure that out please.

I think and hope the Dolphins would be more eager to sign him with all their needs. And i think Parcells is a bit loose with the money at this point. Go to Fins, Pace
