He's just waiting to see if he will get a better offer and he likely won't so just stay patient.

How far do we want to take this?

Mangini is the big stack, shoving all in, saying either call him and we'll see what happens or they both fold and he wins by default. Either way, he'll still have enough chips to go after Bell or Scott.

This was from NY Daily News Cimini's blog a bit earlier today...seems to still feel we have the inside track:

"Here’s the latest on the Alan Faneca situation: The Jets are interested.

    Duh!

No, they’re REALLY interested. His agent, Rick Smith, just told me, “They’re absolutely all in, to use a poker term.”

As reported in today’s Daily News, Faneca, a seven-time Pro Bowl guard with the Steelers, is considering three teams: the Jets, Rams and 49ers. He will use today and tomorrow to consider the offers and make a decision no later than Sunday, according to Smith. On Sunday, he will visit the winning team and sign. He’s not going to turn this into one of those free-agent, dog-and-pony shows.

I’m hearing very strongly that the Jets are offering a four-year, $32 million contract, including $20 million in guarantees. It’s hard to compare contracts - sometimes it’s apples and oranges - but that just might be the biggest contract in team history. I’ll check on that. As I wrote today, the Jets are the favorites to land Faneca."

Clayton then said its not a done deal but its looking more and more like he will be heading to the Jets. Said he could decide before the weekend's over.

If these numbers are right we are offering Faneca 20X in guaranteed money we could have had Kendall for. This guy better be able to average 20 yards a reception to go along with keeping Chadwick clean for all those 5 yard outs.

    Adam Schefter owns John Clayton.

I also heard the host on The Hot List say Faneca signed with the Jets...and Clayton seemed kind of pissed.

The host did say that to Clayton but Clayton responded that he wasnt sure it was done yet. I guess Clayton was trying to save face from getting outscooped.

That's why I called him a pinhead, he's pissed because he didn't know. Those guys like to get there name on things, make it look like they broke the story. Somebody else found out before he did.

So, should someone start a Faneca could be signed-type thread? I'm not going to because I don't want to get banned, but hiker, or Mr. Electric29, have at it!

Is it possible that the Jets made better offers than SF or STL but his agent is waiting to see if these 2 teams can make a better offer.

Can a mod change this title to "reports suggesting Jets may have landed Faneca"?
