I decided since I was bored I would try to take a stab at the players the Jets might be getting this off-season due to all the rumors. Feel free to make your own predicitions.

G: Alan Faneca - At this point it seems like the Jets got him locked up already. I love this move and this is the best signing we could have made this off-season. Faneca is the Jets to lose. The contract sounds fair as well.

OLB: Calvin Pace - Regardless of what the Jets do in the draft grabbing a few rushing LB's is good. This guy is a very good fit for the 3-4 and will let Thomas go back to where he belongs.

NT: Kris Jenkins - I truly feel that after all is said and done Vilma will be traded to the Panthers straight up for Jenkins. I believe Jenkins is a better player to get than Rogers and I like Rogers.

2nd Round Pick - I believe Rogers wont end up in Denver either leaving an opening for Roberton to Denver for a 2nd. Roberton would fit great over in Denver and I feel that Robertson is over Rogers in Denver's mind.

Just my predicitions, for one thing I am pretty excited about this off-season and for once have faith in my CS. They have a plan and are building it.

    Lets go Tangini.

Don't Jinx us. What happens if Faneca goes to the fins we trade vilma for a 3rd Rodgers goes to Denver, Jenkins stays put and we draft Matt Ryan at 6.

I really hope we don't get another Antoine Winfield pulled on us with Faneca. And I would like to see the Jets get Kris Jenkins, with Rodgers as the backup plan. And what happened to all the talk about us being the frontrunners for Asante Samuel, it seems that all of the analysts have cooled on that talk.

I dont believe in Jinx's. If this CS has taught us anything, it is that they know how to evaluate players. They have a plan and will do anything they can to achieve that. Rebuilding usually doesnt form a good team until its 3rd year. This off-season has a lot of guys that can help us, plus with a good draft position and some young talent on the team. There is plenty of money to spend in FA also.

This is the off-season we as Jets fans have been waiting for since Mangini signed on. He got certain parts to his team and figured out which players would fit into the future of this team.

He will be getting rid of the players that dont fit and finding ones that do, they have drafted excellent the past two seasons.

A few key FA's and another excellent draft and this team begins BECOMING a contender. They will show improvement and next off-season will be the one that pushes us toward very very strong contention.

    Just have some faith.

I just don't see the Jets signing two monster contracts in the same offseason.

That wouldn't be a jinx. It would be a typical Jets offseason.

Howdy, fellow NYer's, I know we hate each other, but let's be friends for the time being. What are you guys hearing on Asante? Is he going to be a Jet?

I Like the Faneca Signing and Pace but i rather go for Shaun Rogers then Kris Jenkins from the Article i read on him earlier he seems to be a bit of an Asshole but then again we dont know the full story and at this point we need some talent. Cant wait for this Free AGency to start and already Kelly is off our List but still alot of players available.

I don't think it'll be the absolute worst thing if the Jets DON'T sign Faneca. So as long, of course, as the Jets follow thru with their backup plan of signing their other targeted ECONOMICAL backup plan in signing 26-year-old Indianapolis Colts right guard Jake Scott.

    Or both.

Either way if we pick up Jake Scott, we can probably make a strong run at Asante Samuel and as Newsday put it "Could give the Jets the best cornerback tandem in the AFC".

I'm just glad the rumor mill is active the past couple of days. Where's there's smoke there's fire and we have a lot of work to do, so maybe some of the rumors will stick to the wall. It's a good thing...

I think you truly undervalue Faneca. He would do what Kendall did for Mangold and Brick but x2. We need his veteran leadership in between them Scott would just be another filler, and we need a leader/veteran/pro bowler. Samuel coming to the Jets is the last think you should want to see as a fan. Build the trenches dont overpay for a overrated CB. You build your defense from the trenches not from the CB. We can get a good pass rush and a late round CB to play just as good as Samuel does.

    Faneca + Poteat >>>>>>> Scott + Samuel

I think you're right. The left side would be awesome. Huge upgrade that enhances all three.

I think its unfair to say that Samuel is overatted. Some people credit his numbers to the system hes in and other people claim that hes an elite cover corner.

I like the idea of signing Samuel. Newsday claims it will give us the best cornerback tandem in the AFC- How bout the NFL? Who would be better than us in the entire NFL with Revis and Samuel?

In addition, I think our secondary as a whole would be tops in all of football- Revis, Samuel, Rhodes and Elam- Doesnt get much better than that.

If we can then go ahead and trade for Jenkins, sign Pace and draft Gholston, our think our defense as a whole would be an elite unit next season and would allow us to compete with The Patriots next season.

Lets just hope the rumors materialize and Tannenbaum doesnt decide to play it safe and only "build through the draft".

'Tis true. And I don't want the Jets to look more and more like last year's Patriots. (ie from reports that seem to put us in the middle of every possible trade and/or signing involving ex-Patriots Colvin, Samuels, Hawkins-1yr removed, Gay, etc).

What I fear is giving a 31-year old $20 million who probably has about a year or two left in the tank. Scott is cheaper, @ 26 years old, he started the last 9 games in '04 (his rookie year) and since has started every game for the Colts since '05. I don't see him so much as filler since he's coming from an OL that prides itself in keeping Peyton Manning upright.

But we'll see what happens tonight. Either Faneca or Scott would make me a very happy guy.

Don't ever say Jets have any FA locked up... This could be the Antoine Winfield disaster all over again.
