I fear the injury history with jenkins, but Vilma for Jenkins straight up would work since they both have been hurt.. I like the Robertson for picks idea as well. Can never have too many draft picks.
jenkins plays nose, bowling ball with knives moves to de, and ellis moves to olb (strong side). i'm liking it.
I've said it once, I'll say it again. Jenkins or Rogers at nose, we move Robertson to end and we draft Ellis or Dorsey, whoever is available, to play the other end slot. A dominant football player is a dominant football player, regardless of scheme.
A writer for the Panthers seems to think Jenkins will definitely be traded. I'm sure if we offer Vilma or D-Rob, our package can't be beat by that much. http://community.heraldonline.com/the_next_shoe_to_fall
Jenkins >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Rogers. CAN YOU IMAGINE: If we can trade Robertson and a pick for Jenkins?!?!?! And Keep Vilma!?!?!? That would be amazing.
i like the idea of keeping robertson and moving him to DE, also. i think he could be a good player if he was at a more natural position.
No way we keep Drob...his salary # is just to high and I'm sure we are trying to free up room to acquire some FA talent.
Why do you want to keep Vilma? Roberterson and a pick for Jenkins, and then trade Vilma, who doesn't fit in the 3-4, for an even higher pick to replace the one we use in the Jenkins trade.
Man, I REALLY don't like Shaun Rogers. But if we can get Kris Jenkins cheap, I would be ecstatic. DT is one of those positions you can play for YEARS. Just ask Ted Washington, Sam Adams and Pat Williams.
I got this off the rumor mill: "PANTHERS SHOPPING JENKINS After an unsteady relationship with one-time cornerstone defensive tackle Kris Jenkins, the Panthers are peddling the former Pro Bowler. Charles Chandler of the Charlotte Observer reports that the Panthers are trying to trade Jenkins before a $1 million roster bonus comes due next week. Defensive linemen are at a premium in the NFL, especially after the Giants proved less than a month ago that a strong front four can help deliver a Lombardi. And there aren't many quality players available this year in free agency. Jenkins is signed through 2009 at base salaries of $2.955 million and $3.71 million over the next two seasons, respectively" It sounds to me that the Jets and the Pathers can really mutually help each other here. I think the pieces of the puzzle align pretty well. Jenkins number do not look that horrible either and the change of scenary might be just what the guy needs. Meanwhile, Vilma or DRob to the Panthers would be mutually beneficial.
This is the kind of news the fanbase has been looking for, and were getting it before FA even begins. I wonder what Mangini's TGG screen name is.
Hope Springs Eternal...... annual offseason for JETS fans either way, each of those guys would be an UPGRADE! Factor in the Faneca deal (pending) and both trenches have been improved (weaknesses of the team)
Is there anyone on this board who actually watched Rogers play at least 8 or more games last season? If so, could you weigh in on this guy? People say that they don't want Rogers here but I've not seen nor read anything bout the guy that doesn't look like it can be changed given the right situation.
That's what I get from this. I love how Mangini wants a clogger, something that has been long overdue. And thank goodness the DRob experiment is almost over.
