I can't wait to see what Brackman can do in the majors. Just look at the size of him (tallest in the picture if you didn't know). I read last week that he wants to get bigger hmy: It will be some time before we see him though.
by saying "this years joba," i wasn't saying that he will be as electric or post a ERA around 0.38 I was just implying that he'll be the farmhand that will come up in the middle of the season, out of no where to the casual fan (hell, Melancon isn't even known by most fans, period). I believe he'll be able to contribute and strengthen the bullpen significantly, but I'm not saying he'll be as lights-out as Joba was
If Giambi's healthy, he has to play 1B. His bat can still be elite when he's at 1B. He doesn't like to DH, and it shows in his numbers.
Remember how we used to comment on that? How he has significantly different numbers whether he's playing first or solely DHing. Crazy.
id like to see cano get a shot at moving up in the order this year. maybe something like Damon - L Jeter - R Abreu - L Arod - R Cano-L Giambi-L Posada - S Matsui - L Melky - S
I like it. I'd rather Cano bat 2 or 3, or near the bottom of the order like you have him. I don't want to put too much RBI pressure on him yet. If Damon, Giambi, and Abreu can stay healthy/in good shape, they should get 1,000. But it's been said that they "should" reach that number for a few years now, and something always happens to prevent it. The fact that they only came 32 runs short last year despite Abreu, Cano, and Damon playing pitifully the first few months of the year is pretty amazing. It wouldn't be shocking if the Yankees and Tigers both reach it this year.
interesting read. you could almost see that in his play last year. it will be interesting to see what hes like this year. if he doesnt come back strong i suggest he DOES retire and save us the money. give my boy jose tabata a shot (or A jack)

Good article. I really love the new attitude of the team. Sure, spending ridiculous money on ARod is nice, but it's nice to inject the youth of a Cano or Joba too. Man, baseball needs to start already!
I'm surprised there's no one making a big deal about the whole Jeter being the worst SS in baseball, or ARod "stirring up controversy" for saying he was tested 9 or 10 times for steroids last season. Totally ridiculous bullshit. No wonder Mangini refuses to allow his players to talk to the media about anything. Better to let the media fabricate stories, especially when the fans know it's got to be fabricated, than allow a player to have his foot stuck in his mouth for him. I hate the media. I really do.
http://www.nypost.com/seven/02212008/sports/yankees/computer_crash_98561.htm The University of Pennsylvania did a study (I guess it was computer-based), comparing MLB shortstops. This study determined that, defensively, Jeter is the worst SS in baseball. The reaction from Jeter was mostly typical Jeet. He explained that there's a difference in the same ground ball from the same pitcher, since every runner is different. He used Ichiro as an example. He didn't get upset about it though. He just said something to the effect of "must have been a computer glitch". Gene Michael exploded though. He said that while Jeter doesn't have the best range, he's still great because of his hands, and his clutch ability. Blah, blah, blah. Overall, it's just a silly bit of news. I just figured someone would have introduced the topic already.
Okay, now I feel a little better. Someone had to say something. Oh I know. I just expected one of them to take the opportunity to say "See? I was right all along!"
