We already knew alot of this would happen...I didnt expect Dyson to be considered as a cut...anyway, seems like a bad year so far for our wish list, everyone is getting tagged!!!

    Report: Ravens to 'tag' Suggs
This is hardly a stunner, but there are reports out of Baltimore that the Ravens are planning to use the franchise tag on OLB Terrell Suggs if the two sides can?t agree to a long-term deal by Feb. 21, the deadline for tagging players. This would effectively remove him from the free-agent market.

The Jets, I was told late in the season, were very interested in Suggs, who would?ve been an ideal fit in their 3-4 defense. He would?ve been a pass-rushing threat off the edge, the kind of player they thought Bryan Thomas could be.

Titans DT Albert Haynesworth, another premier player on the Jets? free-agent radar, probably also will be tagged. The Jets have plenty of room under the cap (more than $20 million) and, from what I hear, they?re willing to make one big splurge in the free-agent market. That could be Patriots CB Asante Samuel, Eli Manning?s new best friend. A provision in Samuel?s contract prevents the Patriots from using the franchise tag on him.

The calendar says teams are now allowed to release players. The Jets probably will release a few, starting with WR Justin McCareins. Others on shaky ground are CB Andre Dyson, P Ben Graham and LG Adrien Clarke.

BTW...is IRA on these boards?...I hear him on the radio all the time and I see him post to these articles all the time...

Only the right guy I'd prefer someone like Fanaca since I think that since our biggest rival is the pats I think the best thing is to attack them at the weaker point which is there D which is old I think now is the time to expose them I think the key this offseason is the offense playmakers/o linemen those who can help Id rather spend some and get a guy like stallworth or even Berrian who would be awesome

IRA actually commented on this article and made a good point...if we sign Samuel, then that might not let us sign Rhodes to a long term deal, and that could really piss him off, we cant afford to have him want out of here...

I still like Graham. He didn't have a great year, but when he is good he is VERY good I think. I'm in no hurry to see then cut him, unless we have someone we are very confident will be better and more consistent.

As for the other cuts...good riddance.

From what I've heard the Jets are in a very early discussion with Rhodes on a long term deal. I don't think Tangini is going to let him go. They seem to like to keep their young players in house as evidenced by Cotchery and Thomas last year.

Thank god if they cut Justin McButterhands! Imagin getting Samuel & Suggs? That would be sweet but highly unlikely. I'd still like to see Chad Johnson brought in if the Jets can pull a deal for him, the Jets need playmakers on both sides of the ball.

Instead of sitting there making sarcastic remarks now, why don't you wait until the offseason is over?

Rumors that we're interested is a long way from the FO going out, contacting these guys and signing them....

He's probably the best or one of the top 3 3rd WRs in the NFL. Unfortunately for him, despite being a first round pick, he is stuck behind one of the best starting WR tandems in the NFL. He'd make a very solid starter on most other teams.

McCareins isn't even a 3rd string WR otherwise he would have been useful

he was a 3rd string quality for 1 year in Tennessee, he has been complete garbage since, not comparable to even Bryant Johnson

Hard to sign guys that don't hit the market...

Say we didn't sign one this offseason...does that mean we're scared to go after them?

And why is it bad when I make sarcastic remarks about signing big name FAs when theres so many others who think we should have signed an elite FA yesterday? I think it's a given that it'd be nice to see a big name FA signing, I don't agree with the sentiment that our FO is scared to go out and get one.

Bryant Johnson reminds me of the WR we signed from Minnesota who was behind Randy Moss and Cris Carter, and was supposed to be our new feature receiver... I don't remember his name, but we all know how that turned out.

If I were the Jets, and Baltimore places the franchise tag on Suggs, I'd offer them our 2nd round pick and see if they bite. If we can acquire Suggs for our 2nd round pick, then we'd have much more flexibility to trade down in the 1st round and acquire more picks, which would honestly make for a better offseason. At least Suggs is proven, whereas all of these guys in the draft are not... he will likely be more valuable than anyone we could pick at 6.

The Samuel signing would be a total waste. Put the money into Rhodes, and into positions of need, such as OL, DL, and LB.
