You can't criticize Snyder for spending money but you can criticize him for HOW he spends it. He overpays for everyone. Maybe he even targets good players (though that's up for debate) but he's a notorious meddler and he hasn't done much good for the 'Skins in the last 10 years.

I figure Gibbs had a lot of power by virtue of being Joe Gibbs, which explains why Snyder canned two perfectly good (if not great) O and D-coordinators after he left. This Zorn guy is going to be a total figurehead. It won't be long before Dan Snyder and Al Davis are mentioned in the same sentence pretty frequently.

Didn't Snyder buy the Redskins for 800 Million and Woody bought the Jets for 635 million about a year apart? I think that makes Snyder a little smarter as an investor.

Paying more for a franchise makes him smarter?

Snyder payed 800 million in 99
Woody payed 635 million in 2000

In 7 years the Jets have 62 wins with Woody as the owner. Including 4 playoff appearances.

In 8 years the Skins have 69 wins under Snyder's ownership. With 3 playoff appearances.

The Jets are estimated to be worth 967 Million. 332 Million more then he paid for them. A 52% increase.

The Skins are estimated to be worth 1.3 billion. 500 million more then he paid. A 62% increase.

On the whole, I suppose, but Woody knows to let football people handle football things while Snyder sticks his nose in everything. It's his money, at the end of the day, but his decision making shows a complete disregard for the basic business more that one should stick to his strengths and then delegate accordingly.
