I take Pat Sims...DT - Auburn with my 1st pick & Anthony Colins OT with my 2nd pick & never look back. These 2 players are building blocks. Sims would instantly be the Jets' best D-lineman & with his size, will grow to be the future & maybe present NT. The guy is unblockable one -on-one. I can only say....don't let the Dolphins or Pats' get him....or its' over.

Sims is stronger than D-Rob right now. He reminds me of Tim Bowens ....ex-Dolphin. Sims has the ability to disrupt plays.

Gholston....he doesn't impress me at such a high pick. I didn't see 1 outstanding play in his bowl game. That's a definite no-no.

Philosophically, I agree with Run & Gun. We're heading into Year 3 in the 3-4 and still don't have the key player to make it work.

Whether this is the guy or not, they've got to take a shot at filling the nose gap.

He?d be a End not a NT, and definitly not worth the 6th pick. I don?t see any good options on NT this year, wheather FA or Draft. I?d go another year with DRob and take a serious look at Raji next year.

the two best out there (wilfork and hampton) were taken in the first round, not top 10, but if we could get a player like them, i wouldn?t mid to reach. There just simply isn?t any.

Exactly... Thus far either our FO/CS has been waiting for the perfect NT to fall into their laps, or praying that Robertson or Pouha works out. That's not how teams improve.

In two offseasons we haven't drafted one NT or OLB pass rusher. Not even a 7th round project. Weaknesses don't improve by being ignored...

Actually the "might not be worth the 6th pick" talk is way too early...Sims is one of the most highly rated DL prospects in all of college football and if he works out as beastly as expected...

Hell...for all we know right now, Kentwan Balmer could be taken with the 6th pick. Combine (the physicals and interview process included) changes alot of things very fast every year.

NT or OLB prospects we could have gotten that you'd rather have over who we drafted...

Only ones I can think of are Ngata and Watson...Ngata at 4 would have been a reach and Watson fell to the 4th and was ignored by alot of other 3-4 teams because of his work ethic.

As far as OLBer...Wimbley, Lawson, Woodley, Spencer...we weren't in a position for any of them (except Spencer if we stayed put).

Why do you think those positions are being ignored? Because we didn't pick up one in two whole drafts...two drafts that weren't exactly loaded with talent at those 2 positions?

Re-read my post.... You can't tell me that there wasn't one player in either draft at either position worth a look; worth taking a 2nd day flyer on...

I said we hadn't brought in one player at either position, even a 7th round project. I said nothing about using our 1st round draft picks on these players, but there has been no effort AT ALL to bring in a player at either position, through the draft or FA.

No established veteran FAs. No veteran career-backup FAs. No veteran 'sleeper' FAs. No wily old veterans brought in for leadership. No first day draft picks. No second day draft picks. NOBODY

EDIT. Titus Adams has been brought to my attention, but he was a 7th rounder, and at 6'4 305, he was hardly a legitimate NT prospect...
