Jets/Yankees here, but I'm boycotting baseball because of all of the steroid allegations. It's also why I'm not planning on watching the Super Bowl this year. I just can't get into a game where proven cheaters are rewarded.

That's another reason why you should watch, to root against the Pats.

    Yankees, Jets, Knicks, Rangers...
Same combo as my dad except he is a Giants fan. I started watching football in the mid-70's, Giants were awful and didn't even have a home...plus the Jets had cool white shoes and Namath was a star.

Are you boycotting FOOTBALL because of steroids?

I understand things are different now - kids don't have the same reasons for allegiances that we did in the old days. You're right that most people either side with DAD or go against him - depending on the situation.

Basketball is a tough one - I grew up with a rabid Knicks fan - my grandfather - and since he ran a youth basketball league and had Knicks come to the annual dinner - which I attended - I met some of the great Knicks and became a Knick fan. But - again we couldn't get tickets to see the Knicks - and when we got Free or Cheap Nets tickets in the ABA I became a MAJOR Net and ABA fan! I was at both Championship clinchers - the second was the Final game of the ABA.

Now, when Roe Boe sold Dr. J to Philly to pay his debts to the NBA instead of selling the franchise, I immediately stopped rooting the the Nets. Now I'm an NBA Vagabond - I root for the Spurs because a) they were an original ABA Team b) I loved Tim Duncan at Wake - and followed him to the NBA and c) when the Nets made their 2nd worst trade of all- time they sent Larry Kenon, Billy Paltz and Mike Gale to the Spurs and I rooted for them when the Nets weren't playing ----Ice man etc.

I'm no mets fan, but if your allegiance is Mets/Jets, when it comes to football I have nothing but love for ya.

I know exactly what you mean. I used to be a big Knicks fan, but now I am nothing but a disgruntled fan. I am completely dissapointed in the direction they took. I miss the days of Starks, and Ewing, now it's seems like a team that was recruited straight out of prison. As a fan I'm completely embarassed by the actions of Marbury, and Isaiah. It's gotten to the point I don't even watch basketball anymore.
