[/B]Raiders coach Lane Kiffin confirmed Friday that Dominic Rhodes will start at running back in Week 17. LaMont Jordan will begin his final game in Oakland on the bench. Rhodes, coming off a 124-total yard effort in Week 16, will face a Chargers defense that ranks 15th against the run, but is likely to rest some starters. Source: Sacramento Bee The above is the last press release I could find on LJ. This guy was one of my favorite JETS back in the day. I was furious that Herm wasnt getting him the amount of touches per game that he should have gotten while he was in green. I understood why we let him go -- $$. I dont think its fair to assume that he's no good anymore --- lets face it, everyone who goes out to Oakland gets all f--ked up anyway. Is it safe to assume based on the press release that the Raiders are going to cut him? I really doubt there is any place for him on this team,.......I am really just trying to get some info. Talk to me, my brothers.
Jordan had some good years in Oakland but took a beating. He also had to go through the Randy Moss years. Translation - everyone hated Moss and moral was in the dumps. Jordan tried to speak out and motivate the team a few times but it never took. Finially he just started bitching that he wanted out. That got him benched more then injuries. Personally I would love to see him come back to the Jets. He is not the same guy we let go but he is still very good. EDIT - and I LOVED Curtis Martin his whole career as a Jet. But I knew Jordan should have been resigned and givin the starting position during Martins last year. That started all our problems at RB.
It appears letting him go wasn't the huge mistake some made it out to be. You never know with these things. Part of it can be attributed to the Raiders and the general wackiness that permeates the place. I would also guess that he isn't hard working enough to be starter material, too.
Ahh ya, actually it was. Who did we have at RB in 05 and 06? Then we finially spend a bunch of money and picks on an RB that is about of = talent as Jordan if not worse.
Jordans first season in Oakland was far better than Jones' first season in New York. Unfortunately, that season ended with an MCL that seemed to still hurt him in 2006 and he had a back injury this season to keep him out of the lineup. I was also a huge Jordan fan, and believe it or not I wanted to trade Martin after he led the league and keep Jordan. As much as an icon as Martin is in New York, it would have been the right move looking back at it. IMO Jordan is more talented than Jones, but his durability is definitely a question. He asked for his release 11/20/07 from the Raiders. He was not released due to fear of the Raiders organization that he would be picked up by either Kansas City or Denver. (from wikipedia)
Jordan was overrated as a Jet, and he was overrated as a Raider. I was all-too-happy when he was gone, and I don't regret it one bit.
Sorry, but he certainly was not over-rated as a JET. Not sure how he was even rated other than a young backup waiting for a chance who did show flashes of a primary RB when given the ball. His career stats as a JET were pretty good; 262 rushes 1277 4.87 yrd avg 50 catches 417 yrds 8yrd avg I dont think its accurate to look at what he did when he went to Oakland -- it seems everyone who goes out there gets f--ked up. I'd bet that Tom Brady or LT would show a f--ked up season if they went to a team that had 5 different coaches in the past 7yrs.
Jordan was a monster for the Jets and the Running back coach Rayse; that was here almost had a fist fight with Herm Edwards during a playoff game because of our lack of using him. I was sad to see him go and maybe wwe will never know what he could have been , but I for one thought it was a mistake to let him go! He's the brusing 2nd option that Washington is not !
Are you people trying to say the exact same things would have happened had Jordan stayed here? Oakland was and is a horrible franchise, look what happened to Randy Moss when he went there. All things go to hell there.
I hope Tom Brady ends up there someday. It is pretty laughable what a disaster that franchise is. But then again,.................they had a better record than us this year!
uh no Oakland had the same record as us.... otherwise we couldnt possibly be picking higher than them in the draft....
I'd love to see how many guys who thought Jordan was some great RB that would have carried us out of the CMart era also thought Houston was even capable of being a starter in the NFL. The guy was an average back, nothing more. Thomas Jones is 10 times the running back Jordan is. Even Leon is better.
I Think LaMont Jordan can still be a good starter in this league i mean he did play behind a pretty shitty Offensive line in oakland and it seems just about any good player who goes to oakland ends up playing like shit so maybe he gets another chance he really should but not with the Jets we got a good nucleus with T.J. and Neon Leon. Doubt Jordan stays with da raiders they'll probally release him within a month or two.
