I notice there has been more anti-Favre sentiment with fans in the last few years. I think this is probably because of the whole love fest which went a little too far with him a few years back, and because of his fence riding when it comes to his retirement. Me personally, as long as he wants to play I would like him to stay in the league. He is still one of the most entertaining QB's playing and he has that old school love of the game itself that most players lack. All that aside... he can still play too. He might be a little too old for -2 degrees in January, but aside from that he had a great season on an offense that really rested on his shoulders. I would like to see him come back.
He's still got the ability to be very good, but only when he actually plays smart instead of making those "old fashioned, gung-slinging" (synonymous with stupid but fun to watch) plays. Aaron Rodgers looked really good in his short time against Dallas, this guy was considered a top 5 pick and I'd rather see what he can do than see Favre continue to become Old Yeller with each stupid interception.
For his pride, and his pride only, I don't think Favre will have his career ended on an interception in an overtime game that could have lead the Packers to the Superbowl if they won. He'll be back next season. The Packers front office would never turn Favre down, especially since he can still get it done.
I don't know why anyone would want him to retire. He's still one of the best QB's in the game, is fun to watch, and is a guy normal joe's can relate to.
I'd like to see him retire. It's just too bad he didn't cry like TO; that would've made it two consecutive upsets that led to a little bawlinnnnn.
I agree. They built a system for him that works with those 4/5 wides and quick timing plays. He needs to focus on west coasting it over slinging it downfield.
