So let me get this straight, your 31 years of observing Hess makes you an expert on all things involving Woody? What leads you to believe that Woodys only concern is making the bottom line "grew & grew & grew?" What concrete data are you basing this statement upon? What has Woody done to "constantly increase the value of the franchise" at the expense of winning FB games? Spell it all out, and don't sissy out, telling me that you've said it before...
Fellas, I simply want data supporting his position. Without such backup, he's just trolling another thread with his useless banter. Let's see if he can deliver, or if he will puss out and leave the thread.
Sure Woody is a TOTAL clone of Hess & just like Hess he wants to increase the value of the franchise at the expense of the team. Really bad luck to get 2 garbage owners back to back. I wonder what the odds would be on that? Sorry if you do not want to accept what I [posted but believe it that is the case no matter how you chose to slice & dice it. BTW Woody is 0-8 & bringing a world championship to the NYJs so I cannot even fathom why you & others would defend Woody who only takes our money & gives us NOTHING in return
Don't pretend that you didn't see my question. HOW HAS WOODY INCREASED THE VALUE OF THE FRANCHISE AT THE EXPENSE OF THE TEAM? What actions has he taken and how did that impact the Jets?
You have a better chance of getting an answer out of the retarded guy bagging groceries at your local supermarket than of champ answering your question with actual facts.
Cmon you also know the answer to Koz's question so you do not need me to help you. You also why would you continue to defend Woody when he is 0-8 in bringing a championship to us & but has continue to take our money. Who would you rather see owning the NYJs Kraft or Woody?
Hah, I knew it. Another chump cop-out. You troll the threads, giving 1 of 10 pre-programmed lines- our very own CHUMP-BOT. Then, when called to the carpet and asked how you support your position, we receive either: a) I said it before, or b) You know the answer You are a troll and nothing more, and you aren't even good at trolling, which is the biggest of all tragedies. If you're going to suck and call attention to yourself, you should at least be really good at it... * Don't ask me any questions until you answer mine first.
Well you do know the answer. Sorry if you do not like my HO but just like last off seson I am giving you the reality. So you have a different HO of the Woody fine stick to it & I will continue to have my HO of the Woody also. You never answered my question I posed to you. Why not? Afraid to explain why the Pats are in the SB for the 4th time in 7 years & we are 0-7 in going to the SB during that period of time?
He's either really bad at being a troll, or really good at acting stupid. I haven't decided which one yet.
Oh schnookums, I did answer that question... http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?p=753599#post753599 Now answer mine and do so without your double and triple-speak...
The only problem with this theory is, it makes no sense. Of course he wants to increase the value of the franchise. Of course he wants to make as much money as he can. Of course he wants tax deductions. Of course he wants to increase his net worth. This is good business and there is absolutely nothing wrong with him doing this. And I think we can all agree that Woody is probably a pretty good businessman, so he's fairly good at all of the above and none of this makes him the "corporate ogre" many seem to want to portray him to be. So, that being the case, he would never try to "increase the value" at the "expense of the team." This is like trying to increase the value of Johnson and Johnson "at the expense" of putting out a shitty Band Aid product. Every good businessman knows that providing a good product is the key to increasing the value of the company. Therefore, this idea or notion around here that Woody is not at all interested in winning is pure bullshit. Winning would make the value of his franchise increase. Winning is his key to making more money and increasing the value of the franchise he owns. So, this bullshit that Woody is "only interested in making money" and "doesn't care whether the team wins or loses" is just pure nonsense.
Precisely what I was getting at, but sadly, he never responded. In fact, when called to task, he followed his M.O. and bailed from the thread.
I'm not drinking the Kool-Aid, but the insinuation that Buffalo is light years ahead of us and embarrassing us with their development is absurd, but not nearly as absurd as the insinuation that JP Losman is a franchise passer or that Trent Edwards is infinitely more "poised" than Kellen Clemens, a guy I really don't care much for either. Despite all that "poise," and very decent pass protection, Edwards managed a very meager yards per attempt and a mediocre completion percentage. He was a guy who didn't make too many damning mistakes in a very controlled, conservative offense not unlike our own. As much as I dislike Clemens, he was a guy with a piss poor running game and a swiss cheese offensive line in front of him. I'd like to see what he could do with a healthy Laveranues Coles and a revamped offensive line. For all that progress the Bills have made with Marv Levy back at the helm, they've been 7-9 for two consecutive seasons...14 and 18. Same as the Jets. While the Jets have taken a step back, veteran playoff teams often do when it's time to reshuffle, and you've got to be somewhat patient. -X-
Unlike the Band Aid industry which has competition, the NFL has not put any great incentive on putting out a good product. You can beat if J&J shared in all the profits of every band aid sold in the world they wouldn't be to concerned about the quality of their band aid, in fact I would guarantee they would reduce the cost of it to pocket more money in that environment.
So Johnson is cheap and accused of increasing the value of his franchise at the expense of the team. If Jet fans want the Jets to have the money to pay free agents and attract free agents, the Jets need to increase their bottom line, their facilities and their stadium situation. The new stadium will bring the Jets from the bottom of the league in revenues to the top. Steinbrenner gets lauded for such things, but Johnson get criticized. I don't get it. The new facility in Florham Park will be first class, again assisting in the recruiting effort than modern day free agency has become. It also avoids the Jets having to "travel" to home games. Yes, the upshot may be an increase in value of the franchise, but an owner only realizes that when he sells the team. Is Johnson selling? As for Kraft, let's not kid ourselves. He did nothing that Johnson hasn't done, tried to do, or is planning to do. He hired Parcells and the Jets then stole him. The Jets hired Belichick and he stole him. Johnson offered Parcells a blank check to stay with the Jets in 2000 and Parcells bolted, saying he was retired. Parcell's selfish two-faced act is not Johnson's fault. Kraft replaced the worst stadium in the NFL with one of the best. In order to do that, he had to threaten to move to Hartford and flirted with a downtown Boston stadium idea. Anybody remember those moves? Johnson tried to build the best stadium in sports but got rebuffed by politics and lack of unity by Jet fans. The new stadium in NJ will be be state of the art. What's not to like about it except for those who want it closer to where they live for selfish reasons. Then Kraft avoided PSLs by charging the highest ticket prices and parking prices in the NFL. Did he do this for the good of the team? NO. He did it to make money. As for the success of the Patriots, he didn't forsee what they had in Brady. He didn't make the football decision that have built a superior team. He may be hands on, but he isn't making football decisions. Owners don't make teams win or lose in the NFL. Coaches and players do. Johnson has done nothing wrong. There was no obvious HOF coach out there to hire two years ago. He took a gamble and rolled the dice with a young coach, hoping to find the next great coach. Most people on this board thought that was a good decision as opposed to bringing in a retread like Mike Tice. The same is true for Tannenbaum. It is a gamble, but we won't know if pays off for another year or two. But for now, let's stop looking for someone to blame. Johnson is the owner, Tannenbaum the GM, and Mangini the coach for 2008. Let's look at what the Jets need to improve this team in free agency and the draft rather than looking backwards and playing "who shot John." John is already dead. Let's hope that the Jets can improve this team in the offseason and that the Jets elevator starts to rise while the Pats starts to fall. There is really nothing else we can do at this point.
