We've probably all seen the ESPN version of this where they "simulate" a tournament of the greatest teams ever and come up with the single greatest team ever. I thought it would be fun to do something similar where we get to vote on each match up. I threw together a list and randomly seeded the teams to try this out. Forgive me if I've excluded a team you think should be in there or included a team you think shouldn't be. That will always be debatable.

How do the 79 Steelers get such a low seed? Jeez.

Voted the Steelers...they dominated for a long time, and the Bears only 1 year. I think it would have been close, but the nod to the 79 Steelers.

But that's the point. This is for that specific team that one year, not the decade.

I stand by that vote, tho. The 85 Bears were damn good...but I think the 79ers take them anyway in a close game.

You did good except for the Steelers. I can easily make an argument that the 1979 Steelers were the weakest of the four Steelers teams that won Super Bowls under Chuck Noll. Most NFL historians will argue between the 1975 and 1978 teams as to which one was the best. I go with the 1975 team.

Cakes, I honestly don't know a whole lot about the 70's steelers teams other than a handful of players they had, they had what is known as "the steel curtain" defense, and they were the team of the decade. Most of the list I got by googling for the greatest teams in NFL history. I figured you, junc and a few others would have a field day with this thing and I do appreciate the input.

85 Bears and 07 Patriots move on easily in round one. Tough draw for both opponents.
