I know that Chad Johnson would be a much better option, but I think Javon Walker would come a lot cheaper as far as draft pick compensation. Coming off an injury and after the rough offseason he had, teams may not want to go near him. But for the right compensation, I think he'd be worth a look. As an organization, we seem to never take chances like this and I think he'd defin. be worth taking a chance on. He's going to ask for a lot of money, because eventhough he's always hurt, he THINKS very highly of himself and he'll demand a lot of cash because of his ego.
No Javon Walker, please. If the guy wasn't happy with Brett friggin' Favre throwing him the ball, he sure won't be happy here. Besides, with the emergence of Brandon Marshall and the signing of Brandon Stokley I'm not sure he's even the second best Broncos wide receiver.
I agree that we shouldn't go after Walker because of injury issues. But don't get on his case for not being happy with Favre. Walker wanted to re-sign with the Packers but held out for more money. Then Favre called him out and embarassed him in front of the press. So Walker caved because he didn't want to look like a bad guy. Then like 2 games into the season, Walker landed himself on IR and all that potential money he earned by playing well the previous season was gone. Walker got shafted by a dick move by Favre. He had every reason to want out of there.
Too old, too injured...... Get a young guy we can build around, another Santana Moss. That was idiotic in the first place letting Coles go in the first place..... Imagine having a WR corps of Moss, Coles and Cotchery these past couple years.....

For the right price, your damn right I would go after him. I wouldn't give more than say a 2009 4th round pick for him though. When healthy he is a very dangerous receiver who can stretch the field.
Pass The biggest argument(s) for adding a WR is because 1.) The Jets are lacking a true #1 and 2.) the Jets need some youth to eventually replace Coles. Walker is neither a #1 WR or young, plus he has injury issues.
I think it depends on the condition of his knee more than anything else. He's 28 years old and has more speed and size than anyone we currently have. If his knees are sound, I'd love to have him. Of course, he'll probably end up signing with the Pats Eagles and then those who dismissed the idea of getting him will bemoan the fact that we didn't. He's one year younger than Coles who is either already done or one more hard hit away from being forced into retirement. Whether Walker end up being that guy or not, we certainly need a wideout with more speed, good hands and enough experience to start immediately.
The Jets have a #1 on the roster. Cotchery is now a #1, as much as I hate that term and don't know what it means. With a team that had a horrible OL that gave QBs no time to throw and playing with two QBs that did not get it done this year, Cotchery had 83 catches and over 1100 yards and missed a game. So on a bad team, we had a receiver have that was on a 16 game pace for 90 catches and 1200 yards. His 2 TDs are also misleading because the Jets rarely threw to him in the red zone and instead threw about 50 fade passes to Coles. Cotchery is also a game breaker. For the second year in a row, he was in the top 5 in the NFL in yards after catch. The Jets have so many needs on the OL and the front 7 on defense, it would be a fool's errand to spend big money and eat up cap space on a guy like Johnson or Walker. Fix the OL and hope that Clemens or Pennington or whoever the QBis next year shows improved QB play and Coles, Cotchery, Stuckey, Smith and someone new (mid round draft pick or cheap FA) will be just fine.
I agree with all that you say save Smith. Brad is a great athlete but he has cement hands for a WR--We need an upgrade at #3 if it isn't Stuckey, Ball or Clowney.
