ALAMEDA — Lane Kiffin admitted Monday that he miscalculated the strength of the Oakland Raiders defense, which is one reason why Rob Ryan will be officially out as defensive coordinator sometime this week, free to accept the same position with the New York Jets.

wow sounds like it, Chris Long in the draft as well?

Well, if it happens, I'm cool with that. Seems to make sense, and likely, given Mangini's "damning Sutton with faint praise" lately.

The surprising/interesting thing in the article, I think, was the potential issues with Kifflin hiring his dad...didn't realize pops made more as a DC than his son makes as a HC.

Wow, that'd be a nice start to the offseason.

A move like this would only convince me further that this new regime knows what they're doing.

Wow, as i said awhile back, this move alone is a huge upgrade to our defense. What a coup it would be to bring in Ryan. If it happens, it is a greta start to the off season.

Great news...very exciting. Rob and Mangini could make this a top 10-15 defense.

I will be excited WHEN it happens and not IF it happens. I remember when John Lynch coming here was a done deal because of his fetish relationship with Herm and we all know how that turned out.

Ryan would certainly be a solid hire for the D Coordinator position. Along these same lines, it's too bad that D Henderson had to go. I understand why he had to go, but a shame nonetheless. I really think that if given a few years for players to jell in his scheme and the addition of Mangini giving input it might've really turned into a strength. Sadly, we'll never know...

Rob Ryan looks like Nick Mangold's grandfather.

if he comes here, i think he should have a big say in the 6th pick. if he thinks Gholston is a gamechanger for his D, then we should get him.

Yeah, good point. Whoever it is needs to get here quick so Mangini and him can sit down and discuss how to fix this mess that is the front 7.
