and tell me you don't want him to lead the Jets to victory.

you can tell he loves the Jets so much and wishes they stay with him.

When I heard him say, if there's nothing down the field - number 10 is not just gonna chuck it up there

it's not because he can't throw the deep ball, it's because he only makes smart throws.

damn - chad is the man.

There is no doubt that Chad is a good player and great leader, the problem is that the offensive line is so horrible at it doesn't allow Chad to make the throws he can make and turns into problems. I could easily see the Jets winning Sunday though.

but if the Jets aren't going to win with the line we have now, which they certainly won't, ever, why not just keep him until we do upgrade?

    Money$, Money$, Money$

You don't pay your backup QB 4.8-6 million dollars.

And as much as Chad loves the Jets, there is no way he restructures his contract to ride the pine.

That is possible and makes sense, but I think Chad has been betrayed by the Jets. The team tried to make him look like the problem when he clearly wasn't. I think he has mentally cut ties with the team already. I could be wrong though.

I am sure he meant Chad as the starter next year.

I wish the Jets could have done a little better for Chad and Curtis and Mo and Marvin along with Mawae and Fergie, Glenn and Victor Green. All of them deserved a Super Bowl ring with the Jets.

Chad is a model player - you expect him to say the right things.

In order for Chad to be successful he needs these key ingredients:

    1. A consistent good running game that keeps defenses honoring and respecting it - this happens primarily as a result of a good offensive line; which we all agree we do not have- we can not blame the running backs; their history says they are more than capable.

    2. A physical defense capable of keeping the opposing running game in check and not allowing the big plays. We don't give up too many big plays, but can't stop the run for anything.

    3. Really good possession receivers. Coles may still be out and if not he will still be hurting and may get further hurt during the game. Cotchery, Baker, and maybe Smith are Chad's only hopes at receiver, plus dump offs to Leon and Jones; the Titans will be all over it. McCraphands has proven himself very unreliable and should just be shown the door after the season; if we got a 4th rounder or 5th rounder for him consider it a steal.

As you can see, we fall woefully short on the key ingredient list. That is why Chad struggled early in the year and why he will struggle on Sunday or the remainder of the season.

It will be a Titans victory and I see them winning by at least 15 points.

Respectfully, I think you're wrong about the mentally cut ties. I think he assumes he will be let go or traded because the FO drafted someone else, but I watch a lot of press conferences and I think he realizes its part of the business and not personal.

He said in this presser that he could stand up there and give a big 'rah rah speech' about wanting to stay on the jets, but in the end he doesn't decide that. I think he'd love to stay a Jet - continue to compete at least twice a year against tom brady and win a Superbowl with us in 2009. Damn, I love the Jets

what QB/team doesn't need those things to be successful? We haven't seen what Chad could do with a decent O-line in quite a while. Imagine if we had BRICK FANECA MANGOLD clement SOMEONE GOOD - Man, i'd LOVE to see what Chad could do.

Ill concede that the O-line is Patchy at best this year, but where do we rank in terms of allowing quarter back sacks? Chad is indeed a good Quarter back. I have gone back and looked at his repertoire from 2002 to the present and its dump passes all the way. When are line was stellar he had a play action pass plays that would confuse the camera man as to where the ball was but nower days that’s not there. I think the Jets have a real difficult decision to make this off season. If a team wants the services of Mr. Chadwick; he’s gone! If there are no takers then they will very likely cut him or ask him to take a major pay cut or restructure all together. Too many unknowns to say for certain. Id say the offensive line is 60% of the problem and Chad truly is 40% of the remaining problems. He one dimensional!

I love Chad and still fully support him.

If he proves to be the better QB (which in my opinion this year he had not) than I would most definitely want him as the starter.

Good luck this week Chad! :jets:

The Titans will win but it will be ugly. I expect it to be a one score game at the end with a patented pick-6 from Chad when he has to throw it up at the end.

It's what's been happening all year against this kind of team and offensive line woes or not the facts are that Chad cannot throw downfield against an NFL defense any more unless it's a total surprise that catches them napping.

chad's leg should be in much better shape than when he lost the starting job. I doubt he loses this one for us.

Someone else will lose it for us this time :-D

1 and 2 are things most QB's need to be successful. The only ones I can think of that didn't need that is Favre earlier this year, Marino, and Elway. Brady needed it last week or he would have lost.

You can make a strong argument that with as many holes as the Jets have at the moment (QB, OG, RT, NT, LDE, LOLB, etc.) that all of their losses have been team losses.

That doesn't change the fact that QB is a trigger position and failures there are much more impactful than failures elsewhere. I'm guessing that if we lose the game on Sunday the moment that we lost it will have been very shortly after Chad did something with the ball.

You are right, but my main point is that without 1 and 2 Chad's deficiencies become much more magnified and are offense becomes very predictable and easy to scheme against.

Faneca is a possibility, but I think we can do better in terms of age(youth) and overall upside

Clement is not a starting caliber lineman.

If we had a physical, reliable offensive line, our season would have been much different. We would have had a running game. TJ would have been much more productive than he has been, I also think there would have been 4 to 6 unbeleivable plays out of Leon with other respectable plays thrown in as well.

This would make Chad's play action ability much more influencial.

The defense's ability to stop the run still would have been an issue, but with a quality offensive line we would not be where we are now.
