Yes, it proves that apparently it doesn't help much. If you can't go take those things and become a great player, why could Bonds? It would help him equally as much as anyone else.
the idea isn't that taking banned substances can make you into a player if you never had any talent to begin with. The idea is that you can take a good player and it'll make them great, and/or extend their career. I thought everyone knew that.

I read this morning that Congress is sitting back and listening to his comments; and they might call him to testify under oath in Congress when they do the congressional hearings. There is no spitting back at Mitchell without repercussions. If he is found to subsequently be lying to Congress, goodness, who knows what could happen. SEE BARRY BONDS.

While I'm not going to sit here and defend Clemens, Schilling should STFU. To begin with, it's been said on more than one occasion that he's done steroids. Methinks he doth protest too much. Before casting stones, he better make damn sure his own personal past doesn't come back to haunt him. Anyone who thinks Schilling is clean is seriously deluding themselves. He's just been smart/lucky enough to not have been caught yet.

He's been in decent shape his whole career. He's getting older now. He was a pretty dominant power pitcher for a long time too. I'm not trying to flat out villify him. Unlike the vast majority of Yankees fans, I actually like Schilling, for always being like Clemens on the mound. In this instance though, he can choke on a fat cock. Whether he did or didn't, I don't know. He had just better hope that if he did, it never gets out.

Like jonny said, why did he refuse to testify? He's obviously got a lot to say now that he knows his name wasn't on the list. As for assuming, I'm pretty much at the point where I assume everyone is dirty. F them all. This problem could have been handled years ago, but no one stepped up. Instead, this thing grew into a monster. Every single person involved in baseball over the past 20 years has a hand in this. Owners for allowing (if not encouraging) it, the union for assuring it was properly covered up, and every single player who even if he wasn't doing it, stood idly by while guys were stabbing their asses with needles. Everybody is a Barroid. It's just a matter of whether they were the problem, or not part of the solution.

I don't know because there is no proof. However, anyone who thinks he's been clean his entire career is delusional. (And I didn't call anyone stupid!) It's not a matter of inconsistency. It's a matter of your interpretation of what I wrote. I said I can't vilify the guy because his name wasn't in the report. He's guilty as sin in my book though. Clemens can be easily vilified because his name did appear in the report. Does that make more sense?
Bah. Professional baseball players take drugs. BFD. All the old timers back in the day took greenies. Every pitcher with a bad knee takes Synvisk or what ever that fake cartilage is. Cortisone is an accepted part of the game and has been forever. The Bronx was burning was on ESPN recently, with all that great footage from the late 70s. Those guys looked puny compared to todays players. It's not just from nutrition and weight training. These guys make a conscious decision that the reward outweighs the risk.
