Yeah, I was just thinking the same thing. Don't people think that the weather had a whole lot more to do with it then anything else? Do you really think for a second that Brady gets 0 tds in normal conditions or that the game is even close? That said, the weather really wasn't all that bad at all. Cleveland had bad weather. Maybe I'm contradicting myself...lol.
I don't know....Brady threw the ball deep a couple of times, Moss looked like he had trouble catching. I don't think the weather was that much of a factor....only in the kicking game.
My bad. I forgot the Pats were the only ones who played in the cold and snow yesterday. Mother Nature is obviously not a Pats fan, so she made conditions poor for the Patriots to try to play in. Now that I remember the Jets were playing in a stadium where it was 65 and sunny, it all makes sense why we were able to stay in the game with them.
No they both played in bad weather, that is why both offenses combined for ZERO tds. Jets D played pretty well but it is crazy to think the weather didn't play any part in slowing down the Pats O..
Lets look at the bright side this weekend the 49ers won! we are picking 3rd so far right? I was reading Peter King's colummn Monday morning QB he was saying that Matt Ryan is distancing from the rest of the QB's on the Draft are we trading down?????????
To me it was another typical Jet loss. We were close, we had several oppurtunities to win the game, but we found a way to lose. SAME SHIT DIFFERENT GAME.
Anyone's call. How we do in the FA market plus trades before draft day will dictate a lot in terms of what we do with a high pick.
Of course it did, but people are acting like the weather was the only reason why they didn't cover the 24 point spread. I saw a defense that came to play yesterday. If we had even a decent offense, we'd probably still be throwing confetti this morning. Then again, there'd probably be 150 posts about how we only won by 3 points, when we should have run up the score like they've done to everyone else. A three win team actually takes an undefeated team to the wire, and no one gives them any credit. Amazing.
Is this a trick question "Whats wrong with everyone?" We are on the verge of 3-13 and a top 5 pick (the only bright spot on the radar, kinda dulled though by the thought of other Top 5 picks we wet the bed with). Thats what's wrong. We play an ugly brand of football, make mistakes that high school teams don't make. the last play of the game yesterday was a micro-chasm of the season, Junior Seau blows up our O-Line man and sacks Pennington, the Pats rushed 3 people we kept 6 in to Block, and he came right up the middle... I'll tell you whats wrong... we suck... top to bottom and back to front. Can we get better, yes... we can't get much worse
True, but it still doesnt say much for your QB when winky armed Chad can still throw better then HOF Brady, especially in those shitty conditions...If anyone should have plummeted because of the 25 MPH winds directly in their face, it should have been Pennington... Face it, Brady sucked ass yesterday...
But weren't we all led to believe to Thom isn't affected by inclement weather. Now it's an excuse. Gotta love it...
The point spread came out before the weather report. What I find interesting is that in the Jets last two wins, players said they were motivated by the point spread. They were ticked off that they were a one point dog to Miami, and annoyed that Vegas had them as 3 1/2 TD dogs yesterday. But football players never look at the betting lines, and baseball players dont do roids.
That I ahve to agree with. The Falcons have obviously mail it in. 153-56 in thier last 5 games, sick. The jets, with nothing to play for playoff wise, are still comming out swinging. At least the team is comming to play every week. Now if only we had talent on the lines to back up that attitude.
I'll stick with the optimists here.....I was disappointed but hardly devastated. Good to see an admirable effort, and yes folks when your team has 3 wins on the season, you take moral victories where you can. As for the Pats? They better hope they have some ideal weather in the playoffs, they looked very beatable yesterday. Any more of a quality opponent on the other side would've resulted in a loss for them.
Bingo! We aren't a talented football team overall. We have some stars (Harris, Rhodes, Washington, Revis), but overall, we're poorly staffed. Some of that is poor coaching. Some of that is poor work by the front office. But some of that is guys simply underperforming (Dyson, Pennington, Clemens, Ellis, Thomas x2). We've also had injury problems at WR all year long. It's no one thing that has us floundering at 3 wins, it's a huge combination of factors. Mangini still has this team fighting though. Has anyone noticed there've been grumblings out of Kansas City about the way they're coached? How about grumblings out of Miami? In Pittsburgh guys are complaining that they get worked too hard. Sound familiar? Yet we haven't heard a peep this year out of our locker room. Whenever a Jet makes a comment to the media they talk about continuing to fight, and believing every week that they have a shot. There's a lot of people here ready to send Mangini packing. Is no one at least a little surprised that you aren't hearing that out of the players? (What's the worst that could happen to them? They wind up like Pete Kendall, playing for a possible playoff chance?) The guy must be doing something right, at least in the players' minds.
Good thread and great posts, Alio, and I agree. Am I disappointed at yesterday's loss? Of course. But a lot of my disappointment came from the frustration that, at least to me, we looked like we had a pretty good chance of winning that damned game outright. Were it not for some typical McCariens screwups and the Baker fumble, we were in the thing. And the one very positive thing I take away from this game is, our weaknesses became SO glaring. Our O-line can't block for shit. We can't even run the ball effectively because of it. And on the other side of the ball, at least in the beginning of the game, Brady had all the time in the world until Sutton started blitzing him. With a better D-line (legit, big NT for sure) we showed we can hang with even the Patriots. Get me some help on the right side of the O-line, a bigger NT and DE on the D-line, a speed-burning prototypical WR in the mold of TO and maybe another CB in the offseason and we can compete. And, oh yeah... one more thing as I've said in other posts. Pennington MUST be retained, even if we have to overpay him to carry a clipboard most of the time. The guy is invaluable to this team in many , many ways other than pure QB position.
Were you guys all expecting us to win yesterday? I am happy with th result considering the situation...sure, I'd have like McCareins to catch that ball and Graham's punt to not be blocked, but c'est la vie....the season's over anyways.
Chad played like an NFL starting QB. Most of you were, and still are wrong about Chad. His best days are far from over in the NFL. Mcarins has no business starting at WR. Our Oline (aside from Mangold) is terrible (gave up 5 sacks) and we need to stop the run MUCH better. Thats all I have to say.
