I don't even know what to say to anyone anymore. The only other teams that played the Pats as competitively as us this year are Philly and Baltimore. The three of us are the only ones who ever had a serious chance to beat them. Beyond that, even Belichick seemed sincere during the handshake when he said that it was a great game. Everyone is so upset about losing they don't even realize we actually scared the Pats. Did anyone notice Brady's face in the fourth quarter? The guy was far from confident or happy with the way things were going. Okay, so we didn't seal the deal. We're also a 3 win team, facing a 13 win team, in their hostile house, in poor weather conditions. Vegas put us as a twenty-four point underdog. We killed that spread by two full touchdowns! Their offense managed one TD against us, with short range to do it. Really consider this: the best offense in the league, averaging what, 38 points per game, scored only 20, most of which was not done by the offense. The "professional analysts" were all saying that Brady would get the 5 TDs he needs to be the season record holder. He got exactly none. Moss didn't get his record yesterday either. No, there are no moral wins in sports. I'm not arguing that. However, we're a terrible team (whether you think we're 1 or 11 players away from competing, this year we're terrible). On top of that, we were playing the best of the best. Our defense actually held them in check. I'm not happy we lost, but damn, our boys actually came to play yesterday. If not for another dismal showing by McCraphands, and Nugent shitting the bed, we'd have had a legit chance to win, in spite of losing our starting QB on the second play of the game for us. In a season of misery, there was some light at the end of the tunnel yesterday. If nothing else, this team has steadfastly refused to quit. Let's see if they can carry that into next year. Maybe this sounds like sunshining, which is far from how I actually feel, but damn. At least for this week, I'm impressed with how our team conducted themselves.
hell yeah. i am proud to be a jet fan after yesterdays game. we gave them a hell of a fight. sure they didnt win, but they didnt just roll over, either. the players played with heart and fought till the end.
While I cringe at the thought of being happy about playing someone close, it does say a lot about Mangini and the character of this team that they're still playing there asses off.
Yeah – another ohhhh-rahh moral victory. Does hanging tough with a good team only count as a half loss in the loss column? Are we 3 and 10.5 now or 3 and 11? Losing is unacceptable.
Yesterdays game was like the nerdy guy almost having sex with the Prom Queen. Thats the only analogy I can think of.
We lost in typical Jet fashion, we beat ourselves and we couldn't stop the Pats on key 3rd downs or convert any ourselves.
I still can't believe anyone in the NFL would try and use a Service Academy option package in the NFL.
A Loss is a Loss is a Loss. There are three categories on a team's record: Win - Loss- Tie. When they make a "Good Loss" catgory, I will celebrate.
Bah, we hung with them because the weather took away 3/4s of their offense. They hit us harder than we hit them on both sides of the ball. And what in the name of Bruce Coslet is the coaching staff thinking going with Brad Smith over Chad for important stretches of the game? "You play to win the game." I think someone said that around here once.
thats a good one...so is chris baker.....check the extensive weekly injury report... assuming u r kidding? jil
The fact that the brought Smith in and were going run all the way makes no sense./ Jones should have been handed the ball there. Unless he is seriously injured.
This was a great game. You guys played great. That said, don't kid yourself. The weather had everything to do with it. Weather is always the great equalizer in football.
