Any mod, please merge pretty much every thread on the 1st page into this thread. We just played a 13-0 team and lost by 10 points. Sure there were mistakes, but maybe I should say it again. We played with a 13-0 team to the end. There has been so much bitching and moaning about every little aspect of the Jets today. Poor coaching? I didn't think it was that bad. A few questionable play calls, but nothing major. And whoever said that he coached like a Mangina would coach clearly didn't watch the same game. There were some gutsy play calls and some gutsy maneuvers. Did I like Brad Smith playing a little QB? You bet I did. He's got some talent and he was making things happen. Kellen Clemens the 2nd coming of Glenn Foley? Yeah, that one pass was awful. But it was ONE PASS! I'm glad that pass has just defined his career. Good analysis. I really can't disagree too much with any thread about Clarke or McCareins, so I'll give you all a pass for that one. Anyone that has a major problem with Nugent clearly has no sort of memory. He was, if I remember correctly, perfect on his last 13 attempts before today. Give the guy a break. Sure, he missed a FG, a short FG. He's been solid for us this season though and he barely missed this one in some pretty nasty weather. I'll give him a pass on that one. The message is, we stayed in this game the whole way. While everyone in the country was talking about how we were going to lose by 70, we lost by 10. A loss is a loss, but please, stop with all the overreacting.
Complaining in week 3 might be overreacting...but this team is 3-11...how the hell is anyone overreacting by saying they suck?
yes. before you post you should have better idea about numbers and statistics. you do not want to appear foolish.
Thats not the overreactions hes talking about. Fire the coach. Clemens is a bust. Those are overreactions. It's quite obvious we suck.
13 straight FG's is terrific but missing the important ones is what people remember. Why did we draft the guy in the first place? Don't tell me you've forgotten already.
It's been a bad season, but this team still went 10-6 last year and has a lot of promising young talent that needs to develop. We were not completely outplayed today. The Patriots scored after a blocked punt and on our first pass play. Other than that, that offense didn't do too much. It's overreacting when you're calling for a coach's head after one bad season. It's overreacting when you call Kellen Clemens the 2nd coming of Glenn Foley after 1 pass today! Look at the core of the team. Harris, Rhodes, Revis, Leon, Cotchery, Mangold, Ferguson...the list goes on, lots of young talent that just need some experience. They're getting that experience now and they just lost to a team that was 13-0. There, got it right this time haha.
No offense, but my point got across regardless of my wrong number. Foolish is people saying fire the coach and Clemens is garbage. If you thought what I said was foolish, then sobeit, but I feel like I made a valid point regardless.
Are you kidding me?? No, not this week, but every other week is an overreaction about Harris and Revis. Don't get me wrong, they have a ton of potential, but 50% of this board already has these guys as guaranteed year-in, year-out Pro Bowlers. Most of the posts on here are never based on any sort of unbiased reason. Everything is either they're the best thing since sliced bread (as is the case with Revis and Harris) or your 10 yr old kid can play better (as is the case with Clemens). There is almost never any middle ground.
It does not matter if the point was valid like you said but numbers should be always fresh. because numbers are what matter and from numbers you get the truth, if numbers are incorrect then your point will be false already.
Are you overreacting in the overreaction thread? His claim that the jets were playing an undefeated team is still true, just a slip up in the number of wins they have. Harmless error.
I disagree with that completely. Not everything comes down to #'s. I can give you a thousand examples of this (that number's not important either). Here's one. The Dolphins had more points than the Ravens today on the same field. What do those numbers mean to you? Are you going to tell me that the Dolphins are a better team than the Ravens? I don't think so. You can argue that one till you're blue in the face. The Panthers scored more points than the Seahawks today. Don't tell me you think the Panthers are better (they're not). Your comment is completely untrue as well. I can make a mistake in numbers, and my point still be valid. It does matter if the point is valid, because why do you write something? For the point! If I make a valid point, then my goal is accomplished, regardless of numbers. But I must say, the way you look at numbers is really the most simplistic point of view I've ever heard. Ever watch PTI? Those guys get numbers wrong at least once a show, but their points shine through. Does anyone care that the numbers are wrong? Nope, because the point's where it counts.
All I have to say is...sayuki, I may disagree with you completely, but at least you've got a fan club here haha.
This is not true. miami was better team today because they had more points than the other team. carolina is better today because they had more points then seattle. the point of american football is to score more points than other team, and to win. if you score more points, you win. this is important number. all sports are game of numbers. numbers are important and the numbers is what win games. throwing, running, and meters are all numbers they look at, which is important. jets did not win.
To play devil's advocates...you're not looking at numbers "correctly" at all. Sample size at one game? Only one stat from one game? The one thing I hate about football is how ignorant many fans are about statistical analysis. Everyone throws them out because they "don't tell the whole story" when it's because THEY choose to ignore any kind of context. I've done it before...I never took into account the old rules back when Namath and many other old time greats played so I didn't understand that completion% would be down but YPA would be up .
