McNamee sounds like a real class act. Glad to hear that he was a cop, defending the lives of my family. Great source of info that guy is.
You could investigate second employee and not be shocked when the allegations turn out to be true. Nobody is talking about "firing" these players from MLB. I just find it hard to believe that these guys would provide pages of evidence on some players, and then drop Clemens' and Pettites' names for shits and giggles. It's not like Macnamee and Clemens are rival drug dealers or something.
An investigation is exactly what you do... however, if that investigation nets you no concrete proof, I can't just put out a public report to the company stating that "I have no real proof that John did anything wrong but Jerry, who we did catch stealing, told us he was involved." That's what Mitchell has done to Clemens and Pettitte... don't be surprised when the lawsuits start flying
Again, it's not that Jerry has simply accused John, he said, she said and all that. It's that Jerry was involved in and exposed a massive operation, involving dozens of names with proof, and somes names without. Also, Jerry and John are peers (I suppose) and perhaps rivals, while Clemens and Macnamee are not. I suppose Clemens may have stiffed Macnamee on his X-mas tip, and Macnamee is out to get him. And we will certainly see how eager these players are to file lawsuits.
2000 WS of Juicebags. Pettite Clemens Knoblauch Justice Grimsley Neagle Hill Canseco Stanton vs Todd Pratt Matt Franco
Im fine with that...........the list isnt complete my man.....but you are free to believe that there were no other mets.....I really dont care...and I believe pettitte didnt get hgh til 2002 but you can keep him on your list......yankees in 5 baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If ever there is somebody who doesn't want to go to jail, it's an ex-cop. I'm sure he would say whatever they wanted to hear.
Whether they do or don't, they're villified in the court of public opinion now. The fact is, based on the "evidence" as we see it right here and now, the case would be decided in favor of Pettitte and Clemens. However, both have had their reputations ruined no matter the outcome. But that's okay, since Roger once threw a bat at that bitchass in the World Series, he has to be guilty. And this is all ignoring that this McNamee dude is obviously a total douchebag. See the story that Hobbes posted.
