Yep, agree on all points. I'm just hoping the front office treats next year as a build opportunity and doesn't sign older free agents like Faneca to long-term contracts.
I like the way KC looks when we go no huddle/hurry up. He's making good throws in these type situations...it's almost as though when given too much time he starts to think about things. No huddle it's quick, it's just do, no time for thought and he struggles. Obviously the fact that the o-line can't protect and can't open holes for TJ on a consitent basis does not help. When TJ gets holes he's looked good....that said, that unbeaten team are a pretty one dimensional offense too....somehow it works for them.
I agree. All he does is throw off his back foot while he's moving but IMO-That's the cause of the effect from running for your life. 100% Agree. Why this organization refuses to keep good linemen is a joke Here is where I disagree. Did you see the Pitt. Game? Now I will say, 1/2 the time he is running into a line with No holes but he does break tackles and cut when given a chance which is far & few.. I'd say 3. The forgotten Stuckey looked good in PreSea. I'm sitting at the game and calling the plays based on the formations. It was so sad. And then wait another 3-4 years of abuse @ the QB position? All we need is a servicable QB w/ a Solid O-line and Defense. That is greater than a single top tier QB I disagree here also, I think we have to wait and see what El duo Tanginus do. I'm sick of the JETS letting their best players go because of $$$. We have to keep good players and stop crying if someone speaks out. But thats another thread...
The no-huddle probably only works because it's harder for the D to "adjust" to the playcall. When we line up coming out of the huddle, it's ridiculously obvious what play we're going with. It's sad that at this point, I can sit on my couch and say out loud what play is about to be run. If I can see it, any player that's watched just a little bit of tape can too. We're predictable to the point where if we aren't playing hurry-up, any defense, even the worst in the league, can read our scheme with accuracy. That's why Chad had success last year. At least he was able to audible out at the line. Ugh, the more I think about this, the worse it feels.
I think we're in more agreement than you think. I'm not down on Clemens yet. Like I said, I have no idea if he's got the talent or not. There are far too many problems to determine whether he is one of them. We know the OLine is a problem so it's easy to call that one out. As for Jones, I'm not yet down on him yet either. I don't know if it's his fault or not. You're right, it only happens very infrequently that he gets past the point of attack, so who knows if he can get more yards in the open field. He didn't impress a few times yesterday though. Whenever there was a hand on him, he went down. That could be a byproduct of multiple defenders in the vicinity, or it could be him. Again, like Clemens, I just don't know. I can't like Stuckey at this point. He went down right away, so he hasn't done anything to impress me. Is he a go-to guy? Doubtful. Can he be a legit #2? I don't see why not. However, we already have a very good #2 in Cotchery. Cotch is not the #1 we'd all hoped. So when Coles can't go anymore, we're sunk again. I agree we need to fix the line. I agreed with the Pete Kendall handling when it happened, but 20/20 says we were wrong. Not that it really would have mattered. He alone would not have made this line sufficient. Plus, our D would still suck. I just think our problems are too deep to be fixed this offseason. We'd have to truly open the checkbook in a way that would make Jerry Jones blush, plus have an awesome draft. I just can't see both happening. On to '09!
This is all overreaction! The season is way over (Like 10 weeks ago). I will say this . I watched the personell coming in and out and it was real easy to see what was going to be the next play based on the players coming into the line up. still Vinella on offense! I just cant beleive I had my keys iin my hand ready to go home in disgust again and they pull off some magic at the end and fall short AGAIN! Next year better be a good one . Kellen needs the rep's and chad needs to retire . if they start him next week the News paper front page will read "PICK".
You know what the absolute worst is? 5-10 times a game, when we line up with Jones 8 yards deep, and 3 wide.... Then we send the slot WR into motion (allowing, or even forcing, the linebackers to tighten up towards the middle of the field) have him stop and "break down" behind the left guard, and run into the 2 hole.... That play is so disgustingly poorly designed, and so ridiculously predictable, that, whenever I see that formation, and that motion, I don't even bother watching the play... Makes me miss Paul Hackett....
Absolutely we agree except for 2 minor points but yeah, I think we can make a push next year simply because there is a fine line/small decisions between our W's & L's. A few plays or playcalls and we have a winning record.
You got that right!! Clemens is about as good as Bollinger, but Bollywood was a better runner. He shows no promise.
The argument also works for Chad. When we have gone to the playoffs , the things that we have misssed are , A kicker, an arm and genuine deep threats. How many things are wrong now?
The OL is far from terrible, it is also far from being really good but it isn't as bad as it looks. KC makes it look worse b/c he takes too long to make decisions.
Yes he does. I wait for a taxi in less time than it take for him to throw. How about extemely terrible. At one point I thout the penny had dropped with the O line but I cannot see any improvement at all. There are 2 maybe 3 keepers on that line.
I'd keep those guys on the OL and make them backups. The issue is that the Jets need starter quality OL at LG and RT- not backup quality players. And yes, Clemens sometimes takes too long to get rid of the ball, and has contributed to some of the sacks.
