That's all I want for Chanukah. Erik Bedard.

With Ryan Church on the team, am I allowed to say that? It kills me we're replacing the Hebrew Hammer with him.

So apparently we're in the Santana sweepstakes still, barely.

I'm done with the winter meetings. Rumor after rumor, fruitless speculation after fruitless speculation...I'm done. Wake me next week.

Tejada can't play SS anymore, he would be the one moving

Agreed - I think, in fact, it would be more likely that he would play first, especially since Delgado is quite possibly done.

And then trade Delgado to an AL team? That could work.

What I like about that scenario is that the Lowell/Tejada parallels are there, from the Beckett trade. Perhaps Tejada's career could be rejuvenated.

This is such a hypothetical, it's ridiculous. Still, why not dream?

If the Bedard/Tejada deal were to happen it's much more likely that there would be a 3rd team involved or the Mets would deal Tejada after the fact rather then Delgado. Delgado really has no trade value at this point.

Really? If I ran an AL team and needed a DH, I'd go after Delgado.

This is a moot point though...I'm extremely skeptical the Mets do anything significant.

There are cheaper ways to get a .780 OPS from your DH spot then trading for a guy that's going to make 16M this year.

"…i keep getting e-mails from fans and insiders suggesting that the Mets may offer Ryan Church, Carlos Gomez, Aaron Heilman and one of Mike Pelfrey or Phil Humber for Erik Bedard, for whom i have also heard Joe Smith occasionally mentioned...

So Church, Gomez, Heilman, and Humber/Pelfrey for Bedard?

I'd do it as long as they have plans with what to do in RF next year. And a plan that is not Endy for starter.

That's a ton to give up for a guy who has never thrown 200 innings.

I'll admit that I'm just trying to connect multiple rumors here, but I heard that teams interested in Tejada want the O's to pick up a portion of the contract. I think the idea is a 3-team trade where the Mets include cash to allow the O's to get better players for Tejada without including cash.

    ie: (hypothetical)
To Orioles: Brandon Wood, Carlos Gomez, Mike Pelfrey, lesser prospect from Angels

    To Mets: Bedard

To Angels: Tejada and cash from Mets.

the angels are loathe to give up wood in a deal for miguel cabrera but they give him up for Tejada? no chance. also gomez pelfrey and wood isn't enough, the mets would need to add at least 1 more serious piece going to each team there

Newsday is saying the Nats are interested in Estrada, and on Metsblog it says they're also interested in Pelfrey.

I can't take the meaningless speculation.

Mets should trade Pelfrey for Austin Kearns.

I would do that only if Church had been traded for a pitcher.

I'm becoming more and more convinced Livan Hernandez is going to be the best SP we acquire. This sucks.

Steve Phillips is reporting the Mets have in fact offered Baltimore, for Bedard, Humber, Gomez, and Heilman.

Is it just me, or is that an atrocious offer? Gomez is a blue chipper, Humber has little value they say, and...Actually, I'm unsure of Heilman's trade value, but it can't be enough. No way we get Bedard...I feel sick.
