Jeez give him time, it hasn't even been the Winter Meetings yet...Santana, Haren, Bedard, Blanton, Willis, etc. are all out there; I don't even think any free agent pitchers have been signed by new clubs yet except for Glavine. He'll do something to address the pitching.
There's alot of people that feel Omar should've been shown the door after the season. Starting off the Mets offseason by signing a guy with no cartilidge left in his knee to a 4 year deal and trading their best prospect for trash probably hasn't endeared Omar to those fans.
I'd really respect the Wilpons if they fired him this minute. That would take balls. But alas, it won't happen. All three of my favorite teams are being mismanaged: Mets, Knicks, and Jets. and In the case of the first two, the owners just don't have any guts. Of course, they might just not care.
Garland. It's not the point, though. Based on Omar's overall participation in past offseasons, he does not have a great track record at all. His biggest free agent signing was a 34-year old Pedro Martinez. Not saying that this was bad, but he is not known for pulling off the big moves.
The Coupons aren't going to do shit. Bunch of penny pinching assholes that care more about image and saving a few dollars then winning.
brand new stadium, 100 million dollar contract on one player, and the third biggest payroll in baseball, you should stfu. Thats out of line, they are doing their best
"3rd highest payroll" sounds all well and good but they're nowhere near the top 2 and there are about 10 or so other teams right on their heels. They certainly aren't doing their best either, as they were probably the driving force behind the Milledge trade.
if any of the pitchers we are going after were free agents, then they would go above and beyond to try and land these guys. the wilpons would open up the check book like they have done in the past
and thats where 3rd's arguement makes no sense, since there is no one to spend money on, we need to make a trade to bring a top pitcher in.
lastings value was in such a decline that no team wanted him. he had to be dumped. There was no way he was going to help bring an ace to the mets, otherwise Omar would have held on to him and used him as bait.
If he wasn't going to bring anything good, why trade him at all? Ryan Church certainly isn't going to blow Milledge's stats away, so why even bother? At least Milledge is young and has potential. That trade made exactly zero sense.
If I wanted to read ridiculous Mets propoganda I'd be at metsblog.com and not here. Please don't bring this kind of garbage into the thread.
reading your mets posts are like listening to the angry drunk dude coming out of the stadium criticizing everything from the national anthem, to the team, and right on down to the damn hot dogs. We finally have a good team and some good young players. Be thankful were not Tampa or Pittsburg. You act like every move the mets is like a national disaster.
You're right, it's not like every fan regardless of affiliation recognizes this as a horrible move or anything. Oh wait.
Edit: I wasnt refering to that move, however my point is your overall view on the mets is a negative one, would you agree with that statement?
