I think a healthy USC team is the best team in CFB. But who the hell knows? I could also make a strong case for LSU. It's BS that Georgia and Ohio State wil benefit by not having to play an extra game which oh BTW is a playoff game.
With Glenn Dorsey hurting and he clearly is, he and the LSU defense is a shadow of their former selves while when LSU beat VT, they were still looking for themselves and now play much better than they did earlier in the season so in my mind it should be VT
it's such a joke that OSU gets to play in the Nat'l Title Game now. they didn't beat a single team that is currently ranked, they beat up a bad big 10 and now they get to play for a nat'l Title. This is the precise reason why CFB sucks(not the game itself the system).
Ok so they've beaten 1 ranked team and they pulled away late, it was a 17-17 game in the 4th and Wisconsin is ranked too high as well just like Michigan was. The Big 10 is awful this year, Mich tied for 2nd and lost to a 1-AA team. Find me a quality non-conf win for the entire league. OSU is a GOOD team and they will be a true big time team again very soo but his year they are not, CFB is really down and it's ridiculous that such a mediocre team gets to play for a nat'l Title b/c they played nobody in the non-conf then beat up on an extremely weak league.
The standings in the pac 10 look weaker NOW b/c they have beaten up on each other. Good teams playing each other. A few of their teams actually played decent non-conf teams. Big 10 teams beat bottom tier Pac 10 teams(not as easily as they should have) but in the only matchup of uper tier teamsfrom each conference Oregon humiliated Michigan.
You can say the same thing with nearly every single team in discussion, nobody schedules a tough nonconf schedule, and the teams that may schedule 1 tough opponent backs it up with a 1-AA team to balance it out out of all the teams the only team with a tough nonconf win was LSU beating VT After looking through the entire top 25 only Missouri beating Illinois and South Florida beating Auburn have worthy nonconf wins.
Every team is going to have a couple of easy games but every team should have at least 1 semi-tough non-conf game. OSU played Youngstown State(7-4, 1-AA or whatever they call it now), Akron4-8) and Washington(4-9) in addition to the creampuff Big 10 where they realy only played 1 decent team and lost to that team at home.
Washington was supposed to be that semi-tough non-conf game but they bottomed out, only 3 teams in the entire top 25 got a ranked nonconf win, I am not seeing your point, nobody schedules even "semi-tough" nonconf games.
Wahington was supposed to be that semi-tough team? So th team that was 1-10, 2-9 and 5-7 the last years PLUS they were picked 9th in the pac 10 was supposed to be a semi-tough non-conf game? When USC played Nebraska that was supposed to be a tough game at Lincoln against a team that was ranked. That's a little different than UW. Mizzou: Beat Illinois WVU: beat a quality Miss St team, also beat Maryland. OSU: Youngstown St, Wash, Akron Georgia: Beat Ga Tech, Okie State Kansas: Beat no one in the non-conf like OSU but Kansas canbe excused as they are new to being a top team. Va Tech: played AT LSU. LSU: Beat Va Tech USC: scheduled Nebraska and ND, who knew both would be horrible. OU: scheduled Miami- who knew they would be this bad when they scheduled them? UF: Beat FSU That's the top 10 in the BCS a of yesterday and ONLY OSU an KU played asolutely nobody BUT at leas KU ad a dificult coference just like Mizzou, Ga, LSU, USC, OU and UF.
I knew ND would be that terrible with a new QB and a terrible defense, Washington was ranked when OSU played them, Ga Tech is 7-5, Ok St is 6-6, Miss St is 7-5, Miami is 5-7, FSU is 7-5 You kill the big 10 and yet they have only 1 team below .500, and most at least 7-5, makeup your mind because I am seeing a ton of inconsistency in your argument
The only good teams in the Pac 10 are USC and ASU, OSU beat nobody even in their conference, Oregon is crippled and UCLA lost at home to ND, that conference is weaker than the Big Ten, you are zeroing in on Michigan and I agree that they are overrated but 1 team doesn't make a conference.
ND wasn't supposed to be good this year BUT USC plays them every year regardless and it is a rivalry game here anything can happen. Washington was not ranked when OSU played them(The link below shows the ranks of the teams at the time they played them, UW ws not ranked at any pit this year) http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/teams/oob and again how was a team that won 8 games the previous 3 years combined and picked to finis 9th out of 10 teams supposed to be good? Ga tech, Ok State, FSU, Miss St wer all ator bove .500 unlike the div 1A opponents OSU faced who went 4-8(Akron) and 4-9(UW). Who cares what the Bog 10 records were? they allplayed creampuff shceds outside the conf the beat eachother up in conf. Only 4 Big 10 teams had above .500 records- that's mediocrity. Only 1 team below .500? why is that? the conf was filed w/ mediocre teams that played creampuff non-onf scheds. The pac 10 was vasly sperior to the Big 10 as were the Big 12and SEC. The Big 10 was on par w/ the ACC and BE for worst major conf.
you are on crack if you think the Pac 10 is good, you forget to mention USC's loss to Stanford, Their bottom is bad and their top is average at best, that doesn't sound good to me at least the Big Ten is average, no one bad except for Minnesota, a lot of average teams, not like other conferences where they can fatten up on the weak non conference schedule as well as the weak part of their conference, the only 2 conferences that are better for sure is the Big 12 and the SEC, and the SEC is filled with overrated teams with Alabama, Kentucky, and South Carolina
Oregon counts, they were a legit title contender before the injuries sothat gave the Pac 10 4 good teams compared to 2 for the Big 1O(OSU and Illinois and of course OSU lost to the only decent team they played). Losing to App St a home is worse than losing to ND and the Big 10 has ZERO big non-conf wins while the Pac 10 has Cal beating UT, Oregon crushing Mich(not a big win but but they beat a team that tied for 2nd in the Big 10), Oregon beat Fresno State, UCLA beat BYU, Oregon State beat Utah, UW beat Boise St. Who did the Big 10 beat?
From a moral standpoint Va tech should get it. To go from the tragedy they had last year to pounding Ohio State in the Natl. title game would be huge boost for the campus not to mention the great story it would make. But it will be OSU LSU. The BCS has been trying to make it happen all year and now LSU will jump 6 spots in the poll to get the #2 and play for the title. I think it should be Va tech, but it wont be. I agree OSU shouldn't even be there, they have beaten nobody this year and it's not fair to college football.
Minnesota was the only bad Big 10 team? NW lost to DUKE! IU's biggest non-conf win was over 5-7 Western Michigan, Pudue's biggest W was over 8-5 Cent Mich, MSUs biggest W was over 8-4 Bowling Green. Are you seeing a pattern? they fattened their records agains bad teamsthen they knocked each other off in conf. Compare those W's to the W's from the bottom of the Pac 10. UW beat Boise State, Cal beat UT. The pac 10 was ALOT better than the Big 10 which was atrocious this year. Last year the Big 10 had 3 good teams that were overrated b/c they beat up on a badrest of the conf but this year the rest of the conf remained weak while the top teams were severely weakened. The Big 10 was a joke this year.
USC lost to Stanford at home, that was a bigger point spread than the App St game. Oregon State didn't even beat anyone in conference that may be on par with Penn State and thats pushing it, and Utah lost to a 2-10 UNLV team. ASU lost to their only competition in conference which puts them below Illinois since at least they beat OSU. A crippled team is useless in the decision since they are terrible now. UCLA losing to ND at home overrides the BYU win, and OSU then showed UW was a fraud by beating them. You are at best showing that the top of the conferences are even, and the bottom of the Pac 10 is so bad that it doesn't match the big 10
