I hope all the Shawn Green backers are pleased with the result, if Milledge hadn't been constantly jerked around last season this might've been avoided.

I also don't believe this is part of any bigger deal as I can't imagine any GM being dumb enough to ask for Ryan Church instead of Milledge.

I'm smoldering, just in total shock. How did this happen?

Look, I can't believe Omar would be that dumb. It just doesn't make any sense from any viewpoint whatsoever. He can't reasonably believe trading Milledge for Church and Schneider improves the New York Mets. That's simply unfathomable.

With that in mind, I can only assume Omar's got something cooking. Or maybe there's a warrent for Milledge's arrest. But this can't all be what it seems.

So yeah, I'm in denial. Considering we have some solid talent, and that anything can happen in baseball, I'm not throwing in the towel like some of you guys are talking about. But I am fucking pissed.

The Mets have been looking for a defensive-minded catcher who could lead a staff, and Brian Schneider does that as well as anyone. And Ryan Church is a better player than you're giving him credit for. He's better than a fourth outfielder, even though he might be more a 5-day-a-week kind of player than a 7-day -a-week kind of player. And Milledge, frankly, turned out to be overrated. HIs value had plummeted. For a team trying to win in the short term, like the Mets, I totally understand this trade, Now let's sit back and see how good Milledge turns out to be.

That's Jason Stark...Makes me feel a little better. But Omar has a lot of work to do this winter. This team is quite worse than it was following '06, which is really a shame. That team was special, and if Omar doesn't act fast, he's going to completely waste it.

I just don't understand how a trade like this gets made. Aren't there other front office people and people in the organization besides Omar. I've read several sites and literally everyone thinks this trade is an absolute disaster.

Best case scenario, Church and Milledge perform at roughly the same level next year and Schneider provides great defense while OPSing .650. This all goes back to Omar's mishandling of Flores and leaving him unprotected.

Not that I would've liked the deal in any case but you're trading with the Nationals, a team with a surplus in the bullpen and you can't even get a reliever back. Chad Cordero? Jon Rauch? It's almost unreal.

I guess there had to be one. The only thing reading this makes me feel is that Jayson Stark is the "special" one.

If Milledge's value is so low, why wouldn't he just keep him? Not trade him for two average at best players when players of equal value could be signed in free agency.

What took you so long? I had enough after One Third said he was "disappointed" and all the foreigners and Lastings Milledge also didn't give a shit.

Today's trade? Who gives a shit.

Can you explain the One Third reference? I've seen you use it before but I don't understand it.

That's Glavine, since he only started 1/3 of an inning in that fateful game.

jetfaninwisconsin, what exactly is your interest here? This has nothing to do with the Brewers...do you not like the Mets or something?

Oh, and that Keith Law thing made me throw up in my mouth.

my interest is that when the mets acquired estrada, I tried to state that he wasnt as good as he sounds and all I pretty much got was a blasting of how great he was and such. I just wanted to drop by and say that trade wasnt a raping(as someone called it) of anykind

The Nationals sent me an e-mail. In it they wrote Milledge will start in center field. Wily Mo Pena is also a sloppy outfielder, I think. That'll be a problem for Washington.

As a natural CF, playing full time should improve his defense, instead of being afraid to play him like we did last year

What a bad trade for the Nationals. The Nationals suck ass. I am really pissed about this trade. Schneider and Church are fan favorites and you trade them for crappy Millidge? Ridiculous. Opening the new ballpark in a few months and there is no reason to even go. Good trade for the Mets though. I am pissed.
