Schottys play calling. hey runs the passing game like we still have pennington as our QB. We threw the deep ball like 3 times. but our Defense has improved majorly. But the reason why the cowboys put up 30+ points was because when ever the jets got the ball they would go 3 & out due to the play calling and then the defense just got wore out because they were on the field 3/4 of the game. i liked what i saw from the Defense espically revis.

it is true that we did not throw the deep ball, and it is also true that the weakest part of dallass defense is defending the deep ball.. but with coles out and cotchery double teamed most of the day, there werent many options to get the ball downfield to. mccareins was really the only guy on the field worth throwing the ball down the field to.. and i think that sentence says enough about that situation. on top of our shitty wr situation.. our o-line was easily overmatched by their d-line and pass rushing lbs.. and clemens obviously rarely had enough time to get a decent look down the field, even if there was a reciever out there with the speed to get deep.

believe me i wanted more of the deep ball too.. especially now that we know we have it with clemens, but i mean given what he had to work with, i dont think we can put too much blame on the offensive playcalling for this game. at least this week we play miami.. and i would assume coles will be back, so maybe we can experiment with some aggressive deep plays and really see what clemens has got.

one complaint i do have about play calling is lack of use of leon washington.. and that doesnt mean draw play to leon instead of tj just to switch it up.. what happen to all the screen passes to him and getting him in the open field?? and in the giants game, i know it was preseason, but when he lined up at wr and chad hit him 20-30 yards down field and leon did the rest.. that was one of my favorite plays of this entire year and i was really excited to see leon as a part of the passing game. especially with coles being on and off with injuries, we need more speed in our recieving corps and he definitely has it...

The reason the Jets lost badly was that the offensive line blows chunks. The reason they lost was that everybody else, including Kellen Clemens, is just not up to the task of playing an excellent team at this point.

You squeeze lemons and add a little sugar and you get lemonade, expecting champagne is just silly in that situation.

I agree with you the line sucks and it's the main reason that the rest of the team sucks. What are your thoughts about Stacy Andrews?

To throw the deep ball, you have to give the QB time. The problem was, KC had no time. When he did a 5 step drop, he couldn't plant and throw. Their players were getting in so quickly, he had to throw of his back foot because there was either, a D-Lineman in his face, or an Offensive lineman being driven back into him. We couldn't run a screen because their players were getting in so quickly, a screen couldn't develop. Not only were their players bigger than our linemen, but they were also faster. Lets face it. We were totally dominated in the trenches.

You're so right. Dallas' Defense was bigger, stronger and faster, it wasn't even close. DiV 1 against Div 3...plain and simple, the sorry truth.

Back in the good old days RBs used to get downfield. The argument was no LB is the world could keep up. They still can't. I guess they are held in as checkdowns for the pass rush. the play calling sucks. but I think another prob is cotchery. he can run in zones but when they put a man on him he has trouble. I don't think it is only double teams. They were sending guys the other day

I agree with the original post. The Jets have no balls on offense and Shottenheimer is to blame. I wouldn't be disappointed if he got the boot after this year.

The OL does not give our QB enough time to throw the long ball with any consistency. Jake Long is the answer to the problem.

I believe it is a combination of the O-line and the play Calling. Schotty has never had a Qb who can launch the deep one and he has to start calling the game and designing plays for Kellen. We also need another Wr. Brad Smith is a great athlete but he is not a Wr. He drops to many balls.

Yes, but the answer to bigger faster stronger is 4 wide and throw it every down....

Use the opponents stregnth against them..

it seems every game they throw 1 deep ball (penny to coles in cincy and clemens to coles in pitt) a game and then they think they proved themselves and never do it again. but it works a lot of times when they do it. and they are never prepared for the deep ball.

Also talking about the o-line -- how many times did Jones get the ball only to be surrounded in the backfield by guys wearing white jerseys and stars on their helmets -- Dallases D ran right through our line all game -- just sad

I blame the Cowboy's stadium, the Jets don't like playing in a stadium that has a hole in it.

Holy shit, at least some people managed to derail this ridiculous thread.

There's a single reason the Jets lost. It is none of the following:

    Kellen Clemens
    OLine
    DLine
    Schottenheimer's playcalling
    Mangini's preparation

It is that Dallas is the third (and arguably second) best team in the entire National Football League.

We are arguably the third worst team.

    This is simple math. Like 1 + 1 = ? type stuff.
