since your so smart, what would you have done as the yankees gm this offseason? obviously hindsight is 20/20 so you can knock their moves in the past but i think its the yankees agressive moves and the mets lack of moves that is making write posts like these.
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3118231 Glavine back with the Braves, we get two 1st round draft picks. Very nice.
Yeah it's jealousy, that's the only word you guys can ever come up with when describing us .... It has everything to do with the ineptitide of my franchise, I'm sure a year from now when Boston has won another WS and you guys up your payroll up to 250 million we'll be having the same discussion.
It doesn't matter because I'm not a GM so it doesn't matter what I would have done. You can call it aggresive moves I'll call it stupid moves, only time will tell but hold off on calling me smart until the Red Sox win another WS next year and you guys can't figure out why you can't make it out of the ALDS.
the point is that these were the only viable moves the yankees could make this offseason. They trade for johan or cabrera and you would have ripped them for giving up their prospects. youre mainly criticizing them because theyre overpaying. but look who their overpaying. possibly the greatest closer of all time, a five time allstar fan favorite, and one of the best players all time. i dont care that any of these guys got overpaid becuase i get to see them finish their careers as yankees instead of having to see them taint their legacies. look at the moves the red sox made last offseason. jd drew, julio lugo, and matsuzaka. obviously all huge contributors to their world series. the difference between to yanks of the past 5 or so years and the 08 yanks is that there is much more high level young talent. the yankees have set themselves up for success in the short term and the long run (and by success i mean having a good team and making the playoffs).
also for the record the red sox winning has nothing to do with the yankees. sure if we dont beat them it does but other than that its just a good team winning baseball games.
Again I don't know if you guys are just not getting it or are just refusing to see it through your Yankee glasses. What you guys are doing is not working, it has not worked since 2000. You guys were the most dominant team in my lifetime because you made good trades, you brought up the right guys and signed the right guys. Not because you had the best players or spent the most money, you look at the mid 90's and not one of those guys was the best at his position not one except Mariano. I think you guys underestimate egos and chemistry which ot's apparent you have none. I think your pitching is going to be good but I think you guys are putting way too much stock into potential and not on guys that have proven they can get the job done for 200 innings and in the postseason. When I say you guys I mean te fans not the front office. As far as ripping them for trading for Santana I can't rip what I don't know. It would all depend on who they trade but there may still be time for that ripping although I don't know how I can rip a trade for the most dominant pitcher in the game.
and GYC aren't the only words I think of whne thinking of you either..... 3 years later and you guys still can't win more than 2 games in the playoffs.
dude I only come here to see how stupid Miano sounds...in case you missed it, he recently decided to make fun of the recent yankee "failures" in the playoffs....Im still a little unclear as to how a Met fan can seriously make fun of yankee success or failure....its borderline insane......he's clearly one of the leaast knowledgeable posters on this board and I find his uneducated comments humorous.....I do not mean to derail the Met thread....so to those normal met fans, I apologize
Got it ... we disagree so I'm not knowledgeable. Ok wait and see when another disapointing October hits the Bronx. Who is going to be thrown under the bus then?
Dude, I'm a Mets fan also...you have no right to talk about a "dissapointing October" -- We just had one of the biggest breakdowns in baseball history. I know the Yankees should go a lot further because of their payroll, but you can't talk bad about the Yanks, especially when you're a Mets fan.
Nothing jonnyd for Met fans to be jealous about really. I don't know what it is about A-rod but he not just a WINNER. Maybe its just that he is all about himself, and voted by major league players (SI poll) as the most disliked player in the majors.
