They have the best record in the post season. They have not been the best team throughout the last 10 years, the Yankees have. It would be really hard to argue that. Everybody knows there is some portion of luck involved in winning in the postseason.

He can do it in the playoffs and has. Just not in the last 3 years, of course nobody else for the Yankees has either.

agreed. people are already counting out damon and matsui because of injury concerns, and posadas monster contract has taken away from his great year last year. if our team stays healthy we will have a great year.

Its been more than 5 games. He hasn't shown up in the playoff at all IMO. Except when he tired this BS then tried to look innocent.

but years past he wasnt clutch in ANY game, regular or postseason. i think he has turned over a new leaf and isnt fazed by the pressure. problem is he only had 5 games to prove himself this year, no one cares about his jaw dropping stats in the 162 other games.

Here's what I posted in one of the other ARod threads. It sums up my feelings about ARod quite well, and answers your question.

The best player in the game never makes your team weaker. Michael Jordan was a self-absorbed person. Did he make the Bulls weaker? Peyton Manning and Ty Law are self-absorbed. Did they make their title-winning teams weaker?

It's a silly argument. The only way I would even venture to buy into it is if ARod had been sitting on the end of the bench last year, not speaking to anyone. Instead, he was yucking it up with Melky and Cano. He was even laughing with Jeter by the end of the year on a regular basis.

Besides, it's beating a dead horse, but Alex is not the only player who has gone cold in October over the past few years. Add that to the fact that our pitching has been dismal in the playoffs, and you have the reason we've been dumped in the first round.

We have a new manager now. One who gets guys fired up to play every day. We also have a revamped pitching staff, with potential ace-quality arms in the rotation. Don't be surprised if our situation improves next year.

This has to be one of the most ridiculous posts ever...

"He was REALLY clutch, except for in the biggest games"

Do you get your opinion from the tabloids or facts?

    1997 ALDS .313
    2000 ALDS .308
    2000 ALCS .409
    2004 ALDS .421

Then he had those 4 bad series people love to rant about but to say he has never been any good in the post season is just laughable.

Even that's not true. Jeter will make 23 million next year, Giambi 24, Manny 20+, Soriano close to 20...the difference between Arod and others is not that great.

Whatever, have your "We're the best Regular Season team" title if that makes you happy

It certainly does. You don't get to the post season unless you are..you're a Boston fan, aren't you?...you should know that better then anyone.

I don't see how it's beating a dead horse..because these are thing you have to consider when you are signing a guy for 10yr's to a contract that is worth more than some MLB teams....I could see if he showed some flashes in the playoffs....but he doesn't, he looks like a deer in the headlights to me...and its been that way since he got here. We better improve because we'll be the laughing stock of the league with the highest paid choke artist to EVER put on the pinstripes.

You're either one of two things:

    1) Not even watching the games.

    2) Blind.

To begin with, his performance in the postseason prior to the Boston Collapse is on par with his regular season performance.

This year, he was the best offensive player on the team in the playoffs.

I'll beat the horse again, since he seems to still be twitching:

IF NO ONE ELSE GETS ON BASE HE CAN'T CREATE RBI.

This is simple. I don't know why it's become such a hard concept to grasp for people. Stop believing everything the Post and Daily News says, most of it is absolute garbage.

I've seen him strike out with players in scoring positions....in the playoffs. Not worth 280mil+ IMO. Sorry

We won't improve in the post season until the pitching improves.

Also, he will probably be one of the lowest paid players on the team over the next three years (he has to make up the Texas money). Actually, he was one of the lowest paid the last 4 years too as it was only costing the Yankees 15 million a year. So, it's pretty funny how people love to zero in on him when he is only being paid to be mediocre to begin with. How come there is no venting about Jeter, Giambi and Clemens?

Of course....so what do we do? Spend 280mil+ on one player that we already know what we gonna get.

Yeah, we know what we're going to get:

    50+ HRs
    150+ RBI
    .300+ AVG

Yup, totally not worth the best contract in the sport.

As for your comment about him striking out with runners in scoring position in the playoffs, how many double plays did he ground into this year against Cleveland? How many did Jeter?

Maybe it was wrong to assume you don't/can't watch the games. Obviously you do, maybe you just don't understand what you're seeing?
