I think this offseason the entire D-line has to be changed. Shaun Ellis has to go, a 3rd round pick maybe.D-Rob, duh. I don't know how we get rid of K. Coleman, since we just signed him. I really think this team needs Albert Haynesworth. I don't know if we can get Frank Okam and I don't know if we can get a big time NT in the draft. Albert Haynesworth is the NT for the Titans and he is just causing havoc. You put him at NT and get Chris Long and this defense can take huge strides.

The d-line is just the starting point. Only Harris is acceptable among the linebackers, and we have another big contract with Bryan Thomas.

I really think the Jet's D is a slash and burn rebuild that is two seasons away from respectability. That's assuming Mangini can get a competent 3-4 DC in here to make it work right.

Ellis and Coleman are not the problem. The problem is the nose tackle spot. They do need a young end to develop, someone 6 foot 5 310 pounds and they need a dominating nose tackle.

If they would have unleashed KC instead of playint 60% pussyball -the DL would have looked wicked.

    San Jose...

I saw a guy in a Vilma jersey at a sports bar today. I know there are more out here but they are hiding.

    They are sooooo embarrassed.

  9. We have some decent role players for the DL...The problem is we only have one suitable starter...

Suitable starter- Coleman- And he could easily be upgraded.

Role players- Devito- young guy who has looked pretty good in limited snaps. Has the size, strength and height to get bigger and fits the scheme. Will never be a starter..but could be a jarvis green type.

    Pouha- Suitable back-up NT type

That's about it right now. D rob is a possiblility at 3-4 DE...but that remains to be seen consistently.

Until we get the dominating nose tackle in the off-season, we can improve the run D now by starting Pouha.

yeah I'm tired of hearing..."The JETS D-line is getting pushed around all game?"

  12. This has been an ongoing problem since the beginning of the Herm era.

We had a 2 year time frame toward the end, when the D-line was a strength to the team...but any other time...the DL has been vastly undersized and overmatched.

It needs to be addressed once and for all. Only problem is, solid 3-4 DL are hard to come by these days.

Kurt you don't think Ellis has been solid at end in the 3-4? He seems to be a very good job doing his role and most teams are running the ball away from him and Thomas. Unfortunately neither BT or Ellis have been able to beat anyone one on one in pass rushing situations.

  14. Ellis has been so-so. He def. has his moments filling the gap..but he wears down pretty quickly and does not get the pass rush he once did...even when we line-up w/ 4 down.

I agree the entire line has to go. We need a pass rusher desperately and a NT that can hold his own against the run. I want Ellis and D-rob out.

I agree, he's just not a good pass rusher at all at this point. I can't recall him beating anyone in a while. He's even worse in a 4-3. I think Ellis and Coleman will be back next year but they have to draft multiple front 7 players.
