If this did end up happening I would be pissed, you can't pass up McFadden unless we get a deal we can't refuse. Just take a look at what Peterson has done on the Vikings, I don't care how many holes we have on defense but McFadden is the type of player you can build a franchise around.
And it just makes me sick to my stomach to think the Pats would get the #5 pick. Has anyone confirmed which pick they will lose?
If we are going to trade down to take a Rb we might as well stay where we are and grab Mcfadden. If we trade down we need extra picks to beef up the defense and offensive line. If we are going to trade down for a Rb then we might as well get the best one in the draft. This makes no sense when our lines stink and we have Thomas Jones.
Ugh. I sure don't like the speculation of Dan Conner being reunited with Paul Posluszny at the Bills. hmy:
No way we draft a RB in the first.....unless we come to agreement with another team to trade .....ITS NOT HAPPENING!
When we drafted Hobson I said he was a solid tackler but lacked cover speed and made up for it w/ instincts. Check. Harris, He was a very good tackler, good pursuit and got off blocks well. I'll say Check. Well, so far so good. Now, Long is a friggin BEAST!!!! We (I'm a Mich fan) constantly run to his side w/ Hart even when the defenses know it and he still road grades people!!! I would trade up to grab him and Move D'brick to the opposite side. This is a REAL LT worthy of a high pick, not a Project or an adequate OL that "Needs Work"...
Has anyone seen DE's Long and/or Harvey play? Are either suited to play either DE or OLB in a 3-4? What are their strengths/weaknesses? How about Campbell? Would he be a fit?
Runningbacks drafted onto bad teams tend to do absolutely nothing to change the status quo. If McFadden is worth a lot, then trading down and picking up extra value is not only the smart thing to do it's the sane thing to do. In the last three drafts there have been six runningbacks taken in the top 15 of the NFL draft. Adrian Peterson, Marshawn Lynch, Reggie Bush, Ronnie Brown, Cedric Benson and Cadillac Williams. The teams that took them are a combined 13-26 this season. That's because there were other fundamental problems on those teams that needed to be addressed before the runningback. Cadillac Williams is already hurt and damaged goods. He will be joined by two other players on that list within a couple of seasons.
How do we not take Chris Long at the spot. If this scenario plays out and we stockpile picks AND get Chris Long, this would be a great draft. If we were to take a rb though, I'd prefer Stewart.
If we stay in the top 10 the only person I could see taking there is Brian Brohm. If we trade down then I could see a bunch of people as being very interesting, including Colt Brennan and Frank Okam. I have this feeling both of those guys are going a bit higher than Kiper has them projected though. Brennan in the top 12 and Okam by 15.
Okam bayyyybeeee! And Jason Shirley later, especially if we get picks for trading down. Alcohol problems or Not at Fresno, take him in the fourth. Okam, Shirley..one of the two would have to pan out. And If both do ......
No way in hell we take a RB in the first round. Chris Long or an NT or both in the first round if we trade up. If we go RB in the first round I quit being a Jets fan.
