Yea you know whats even more funny? That it's true. Aside from Humber Gomez and Martinez the farm system sucks. Mulvey is a fringe prospect and Milledge and Pelfreys value are WAYY down. Yankees meanwhile even without Joba and Hughes sport guys that project to be top starters like Kennedy and Horne, and then either back of the rotation arms or middle relief power arms like Ohlendorf, Mark Melancon or Dellin Betances. That's not even taking into account Jose Tabata who's one of the best outfield prospects in baseball, and other pitchers that were either high draft picks or top guys coming off injury in Sanchez and Brackman. So hey good luck to the Mets fan that actually thinks they have a shot at matching any offer the Yankees have at getting Santana without having to completely bury whatevers left of their miserable farm system.
Metsblog has a note that Omar said earlier this week that Ambiorix Burgos will miss most of next season due to his Tommy John surgery rehab. Good thing we traded Brian Bannister, a solid 3-4-5 starter for a reliever with a bad arm.
That disaster was a terrible trade when it was made and I don't seem to recalll anybody but me being pissed about it. That trade is one of the major reasons we didn't make the playoffs. A good starter for a minor leaguer with arm trouble. Briliant move by Omar there.....
zzzzzzz The Yankee farm system has been top heavy all year, remove Joba and Hughes and most of the talent is in low A ball, and yours doesn't even compare to the elite farm systems in baseball Stick to your team because you are bringing nothing to the table
Milledge and Pelfrey's decreased value is still extremely high; you act like they aren't top prospects anymore. Then, way to gloss over the Humber-Gomez-Martinez trio. That's five top guys right there. The Yankees top five (Joba and Hughes excluded) are, not in order, Tabata, Kennedy, Horne, and middle relief fodder. And you act like besides those five top guys no one is in our system; it's not as good as it should be, but there are plenty of good pitchers like Deolis Guerra and solid position players like Mike Carp.
I didn't glaus over Humber Martinez and Gomez. But how are you going to sit there and say Milledges value is still extremely high when I seriously doubt the A's who were enamored with him would give him up for JOE BLANTON at this point. And if you want to talk about glausing over, you called Humberto Sanchez and Mark Melancon or Dellin Betances middle relief fodder? Uhh the last time I checked young relief pitching these days is at a premium, and before the season baseball america had Betances at a higher rating then Joba. Guerra in the Yankees farm system isnt even close to being in the top 7 in PITCHING nevermind prospects.
Betances being higher than Joba is only an indictment of Baseball America. As for the rest of your post, Milledge will still be a stud in this league, in New York or elsewhere, I assure you. Young relief pitching is such a premium...hmm, in the last draft, the Mets selected a ton of relief pitchers, and the Yankees rolled the dice with a hurt starting pitcher. Interesting.
I saw on PTI today that the Bergen Record quoted a Mets source as saying the Mets may go after A-Rod...It's a baseball debate, not a money debate, as we can afford it, he says. Also says Wright would play second. Thoughts? If Wright can play second, I don't really see how we can say no. Reyes Milledge Beltran A-Rod Wright Alou Delgado Catcher is pretty filthy. Or a variation of that.
you failed to mention Ian Kennedy and Edwar Ramirez, who won MiLB Starting Pitcher of the Year, and Relief Pitcher of the Year, respectively. contrary to popular belief, the yanks farm system is much deeper with many more quality prospects than in years past.

The Yankees probably had a better lineup, and we saw what they did with their shit starters. OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS, ROGER CLEMENS IS COMMING BACK TO THE YANKEES!@#!@$#!@$!@$!@$!@$ Fuck hitting, we have enough hitting, we need some shutdown take it into the 7th starters and some relievers who don't shit the bed on a regular basis.
probably? try the best offense in MLB. just once id like to see you make a post without talking shit about the yankees.
Regarding Guerra....the KID is 6'5. He is 18 years old. In High-A he had 66 K's in 89.2 innings. He gave up 80 hits and walked 25. Thats a WHIP of 1.18, impressive. Remember, he is a freshman in College or a senior in HS right now. He is only 200 pounds, and he tops in the low 90's. He will put on at least 15-20 more pounds and will end up toping out at around 96 I would guess. He will be the Mets highest rated pitcher going into next season I would guess. Also, dont forget about Kunz, who could def be the closer on this team in 2-3 years. He tops at about 99 I believe, and he was the closer for the back-to-back National Champs. We have the arms in our farm system. However, the goods, like Guerra and maybe a guy like Jon Niese are a few years away.
assuming that delgado is not as horrific as he was last season and reyes is closer to the first half then the 2nd half the proposed mets lineup with a-rod in the middle of it would absolutely be better then the yankees this year. not only that but getting a player of a-rods caliber would all but assure that the mets would dominate the weak NL during the regular season. the guy is the best player in the game, and there's no one out there that would have a bigger impact on the team that signs him. where is this shutdown starter and relivers that don't suck and more importantly what is it going to cost the team to get them in terms of the talent they're giving up?
Another idea--and I'm not such a fan of this one--Is a trade centered around Reyes for Johan, then A-Rod plays short. Just if anyone has thoughts on that. I think, if you have a chance to get A-Rod, you get him. That simple. Make your offense better. It would guarentee is a playoff ticket, and if Maine/Perez improve, Pedro and El Duque pitch well for most of the year, and Pelfrey or someone else steps up, that would be enough. Those are huge ifs, but still.
And with no pitching we're 3 and done in the DS. I get that A-rod is the best player of the past 50 years, but he's never been on a world series champion in the what...10+ years he's been in the league. Arod is a distraction and a waste of time. The Mets are not one position player away from the world series. Especially one that plays a position already played by the two best young talents on the team.
