Different situation is why you want to be led to this idea. Chad was not being pulled as the starter. He was hurt and the coaching staff decided (at the last moment) that it was a better idea to give him another week to rehab and let the kid play a game. He hadn't lost his job so I don't think you could say he shouldn't be competitive. For all you know the coach said look we are going to rest you today, but if something happens out there or it is really bad we may ask you to suck it up and play. You just don't know.

I'm just saying... when and if it is all said and done and he's officially yesterday you will see him be a team player. We won't know till it happens, but I believe he will come through. It is in his own best interest to anyway because it helps him value wise if he doesn't stay with the Jets long term in that capacity.

Just like Clemens has his helmet on. Please drop this spin.

Chad was healthy enough to play, and I believe Vinny was too, because, if I recall correctly, it was a very minor injury he suffered against Jacksonville... At the time, it looked like the exact same situation.. HC using a minor injury to a non-productive starter to give the backup a chance to see what he's got....

Sure, maybe it's possible that he'll be a great help to Kellen when the time comes, but, to me, from everything I've seen from Chad, he's going to fight to be the starter until his arm falls off.....

Clemens is the backup whose chance is coming... It's a completely different situation.... They're not going to give an inexperienced backup a headset to help him talk the 5 years starter through situations....

I wasn't comparing Chad to Kellen...

I was comparing him to Vinny

    What are you serious?

This conversation was about how Chad is contributing to Kellen's progression, and how he will continue to, in contrast to how Vinny contributed to Chad's progression....

How Kellen behaves on the sideline is irrelevant.... Does Kellen need to be there with the headset on to contribute to Chad's progression? No It's a completely different situation....

When a man with such a long history of success speaks I listen?

Vinny commenting on Chad ? one one-season wonder defending another.

no shit he is pressing because we are behind...Chad is part of the reason the Jets seem to always be behind -- he can't lead the team to scores. but what is Vinny's excuse for Chad when he is given a 2 TD like against the Giants and also plays like crap? the terrible play seems consistent regardless of the game situation, so the game situation can't be it.

So explain why Kellen had his helmet on this past weekend for a lot of the game? Or the other games? Could it be he was listening in on the calls being made by the OC? But I guess that's just one more thing that Chad's not allowed to do but Kellen is.

    IT's a different situation...

I'm not saying that Chad's a bad guy for the way he acted on the sideline when Kellen started....

I was comparing him to Vinny Testaverde, and how he behaved when Chad replaced him in 2002.... Chad is an extremely competitive guy and wants to be in the game so long as he's suited up.... Vinny, on the other hand, accepted his fate and decided to try and help the new guy improve....

Who cares if Kellen had his helmet on? He's the backup QB.... He should be anxious to get into the game.....

Chad was clearly more worried about keeping his job than about helping Kellen improve....

This isn't a 'I love Kellen, Chad sucks' argument I'm making, so you guys need to get that idea out of your head and stop being so defensive....

The argument is that I think, because of Chad's competitive nature, he's not going to make a good mentor when he's replaced....

Vinny stepped aside, accepted he was done, and tried to help Chad improve....

I can't see a guy who's as fiery a competitor as Chad is doing that

No, it really isn't. You're just making it into one because want to use it as yet another excuse to get Chad out. What makes you so sure that Chad wasn't listening in to the signals being sent out and then conferring with Kellen when he was coming to the sideline? You don't. But you saw Chad standing on the sideline and thought the worst of course because it's much easier to place the blame that way.

I'm not placing blame... I'm not using it as a reason to want Chad out....

I'm comparing Chad to Vinny when they're on the sideline, THAT'S IT!

How in the world, would complaining about Chad's sideline behavior be an argument for him being benched? That makes no sense!

    Vinny was 'injured' as well....

Both injured the week before.... Both could have played..... And don't say he couldn't have, because Mangini insisted about 1,000 times that Chad would have been good to go, as did Chad

We can restate it a million times, it all boils down to your record. Right now, Chad's record with an offense that has talent at basically every position is 1-4, and we scored 9 points on Sunday, with the help of special teams and defense. That's not gonna get it done.

And seriously, it seems like Chad has two major problems this year. Whatever look the D gives him, he'll check out or check down, so they can put up false fronts and trick him. Also, he seems to go with his primary option the whole way, even if he's not open, and then by the time he knows he can't throw to them its either a 2 yard dump-off (although granted not much less than his normal throws) or even a sack. Not to mention, when he's got a receiver, he stares them down the whole way. Even Randy Cross picked up on it. He basically stares at his receiver, never looks off the D.

    Vinny 45000+ passing yards

    271(possibly more to come) TDs

    261 INTs(more to come, unfortunately)

    Almost 7000 completions

Started his 209th game of his career

    He's certainly not a one-year wonder...I'd call him a 21-YEAR-WONDER

Are you serious? Vinny sucked ass in the league until Parcells got a hold of him. Dude threw 35 pics one year for Tampa. Take away one good year with the Jets and he is the another one of those QB's with a great arm that didn't do shit with their career. I was in Fl during those years when he played for Tampa, dude was a complete joke. Tampa was the laughing stock of the league for years with Vinny at QB.

What are you talking about?? Chad has absolutely nothing to do with deciding who does or doesnt play on Sun.. You are saying that you want him to just quit. Not gonna happen Coaches decision pure and simple. If the decision to sit him comes I am sure he wont like it. But I am equally sure he will do what it takes to help the Jets while he is stil on their team
