This is one of the dumber comments I've read in recent Jets history:

From ESPN.com article indicated Jets not interested in trading or benching Chad:"The only change we need is a win," wide receiver Laveranues Coles said Monday. "You get a win and everything else goes away. If we win, we wouldn't be talking about change, so right now the main thing is trying to find a way to get a win."

Hey, Laveranues, no crap! We wouldn't be talking about change if we were getting wins. But, here's a little news flash for you, we're not getting wins, in fact we've only achieved 1 in six tries thus far in 2007. So therefore, we're talking about change!

this is LC being a good teammate and trying to go out of his way to deflect attention from chad. now our players sound like Mangini. repetitive and obvious.

doesnt surprise me. nobody would talk about qb change until it actually happened even then theyd give chad props and kellen proops, our players are very diplomatic to the press.

Im very suspicious of Coles. Coles is getting up in age and he is Chads friend and favorite target. The end of the the Chad era might be the end of the coles era as well. Coles replacement should start to be groomed as well.

A win, and yes we will be talking about how bad Chad has been playing. Knowing we couldn't go far in the playoffs with 5 yard dump passes.

No wonder big name free agents will never come to the NYJ. Why would you want to play for a city whose fans rollover on you in a second.

Did Coles not make a name for himself once Chad started throwing to him? What happened to Coles when he went to Washington? He was begging to come back? Are they not best friends and is Pennington's Kid named after Coles? Is coles getting up in age? Don't you think we should start thinking about finding someone to replace him sooner than later? Are these all not facts?

Our Owner and GM are too fckn cheap to pay for top notch talent. That's not part of "the Plan". We don't do "playmakers" nor do we sign "impact" FA's. We want nobodies. We do it according to the old Patriot Plan. Keep it cheap. Keep it simple..

yeah, I'm sure players roam message boards to see how fans treat the players before signing. don't confuse how you handle your free time with how a busy NFL player does.

We have that guy..... his name is Jerricho Cotchery. As far as Cotch's replacement. I have the utmost confidence that Brad Smith is going to be that guy. Now as far as the #3 guy. I could see him being drafted this year.

I'm sorta curious how Chansi Stuckey would've turned out if he didn't get injured so early this year. From all the hype in training camp and preseason, he certainly seemed like a player to watch. I was thinking, at worst, he could replace McCareins and possibly move up to the slot position.

that was Coles 3rd year in the NFL, the same amount of time it took Cotchery to develop. FYI Patrick Ramsey sucks? what did he do in NY? Absolutely nothing, where is he now? Oh yes, hes a backup in Denver...

My God, where the hell has logic gone?

Coles was a pro bowl WR with Ramsey throwing to him, he did great with Washington. He wanted to leave to get another raise which he did. Don't be shocked if he does it again with or without Chad throwing the ball to him. And we probably will replace him very soon.

What is the logic needed to figure out that Coles is speaking up for chad the most and he is his best friend? Herm kept Cotchery from playing and even admitted that was what he thought his biggest mistake in Ny was. Cotchery should have been playing in his first season and should be our no 1 target now!

Thats right, I forgot about his first year there, I remember him having 90 receptions and 1 TD, and I knew that wouldn't get him a pro bowl nod, but that first year was a good year for him...

This is nothing more then Coles being a good guy and defending one of his best friends Chad Pennington. Coles sees Kellen every day in practice, he has to know deep down inside Chad has no arm and Kellen is the answer at this point.

People bash LC for saying the wrong things, now you guys are bashing him for saying the right things?

    Give me a break man....

Totally off topic, but I just do have to say I would not trade Coles for any WR in the NFL. Chad is holding Coles back, there are probably over 50 routes in the NFL Coles can not run because of Chad's weak arm. Its such a shame......

He will do everything in his power to walk out the door once Chad is gone.

Is he Chad friend, YES. Is he doing what any good teammate would do at this point regarding Chad right now? Yes! Playing Cotchery had nothing to do with Coles, as he was the best WR on the Jets.It had to do with JMac, who Herm refused to accept as a bust. Get your head out of your ass....
