teams make quarterbacks, quarterbacks dont make teams. every now and then you get a peyton manning.. who does make a team, and who produces consistently to the point where a team can build around him. chad is a good quarterback, not built for the team we have. on a team with an aggressive, playmaking defense and an established run attack.. chads your guy. unfortuntately, that isnt us this year. and were not gona have it any time soon. any game chad starts this year will make that game sad to watch. id love to be surprised, but i dont see it happening. opening up our offense opens up our season...

unless of course this tangenius staff has something in the works that we just cant see right now..such as rebuilding from the start, and we just got too much from a easy 10-6 schedule last year. only problem with that is where is the followup to that?? and knowing our pass rush sucks, what does signing washed up veterans do?? pass rush makes defenses, we dont have it. thats another discussion.

and im drunk thats my rant

Can Clemens use his arm to pour me some orange juice? If he has no aspirations to be my personal Slave, who needs him? Let's be real here.

They are great against the run, teams average 2.9 per carry against them they also still have the best secondary in the league. The reason they are giving up points is their O has turned the ball over consistently in their own field of play over and over again giving teams short fields to work with and leaving the D on the field forever. They are ranked 4th in yards allowed average through 5 games even with the O 3 and outing and turning the ball over at a big time rate.

I've personally seen Clemens break a tree in half with his bare hands.

actually he drew comparisons to a young favre with some scouts, but not in pure arm strength. he doesnt get short to medium passes there rocket style. but his delivery and release always are consistent which leads to some fastballs.

plus hes aggressive with the ball, can throw on the run and prefers to move in the pocket.

maybe these are things that have kept him off the field but those are things i like. he can keep plays alive.

it doesnt always work to your advantage but those are the kind of players usually that can dig you out of holes or dig one for your opponent.

I personally think Clemens will never be a great QB in this league. For one thing, I can't remember if there were ever any that came of the second round. I know all about Brady and the fluke he is. Mainly the reason is I don't think he is tall enough. OL and DL lineman are getting bigger and taller every year. I just don't think 6'2" hacks it in the NFL anymore. 6'5" seems to be the proper size now.

I'm shocked and appalled that you'd have a negative outlook.

And I'm not when you would try to sugarcoat every problem this team has.

Don, you ignored my challenge in another thread. I'm gonna try again. Please name something (it can be Jets related or otherwise) that you think is really just excellent and you like without reservations. Newborn babies, sex, ice cream. . . What makes you happy in life?

Clemens has a + arm. No doubt about it. He isn't Brett Favre, but he doesn't have to be either.

Wasn't Favre a second round pick? he is going into the HOF, I think Fouts and Montana were third round, Staubach went in round 10 and Warren Moon went undrafted add in Brady who is a lock for the HOF and that's a chunk of modern era HOF QB's that weren't first round guys.

Most anything but the current and past (38 years) state of the Jets. I think I was excited about them when the sack exchange played though so it really hasn't been all that long. I use to fall into the trap you apparently are falling into now. I learned from my mistakes.
