Even if we had the Ravens Defense of Old Chad does not have what it takes to beat the Colts or Patriots. Do you realize the level we have to get to for a shot at the Sb?
If you want Chad out then root for Clemens to beat him out, not for Chad to give it away. If Clemens is what everybody thinks he is, he will win the job and force the coaching staff to make the switch. It is a bad situation when the starter forces the CS to make the switch due to bad play. I really don't care who the QB is if we start playing with emotion again and start winnning.
Anyone that thought New York Jets and Super Bowl before this season was high. Chad did what he had to do for this team to be competitive last year. Between last year where his arm was getting noticeably weaker but still serviceable and this year, where his arm is getting weaker by the minute it is painfully obvious he does not have the most important physical tool to play QB in the NFL. It is no different than if say Albert Einstein got Alzheimer's. Except the Gov't would not let him set foot in a Nuclear lab. Now that being said rooting for the Jets to lose is defeatist BS. KC will be the QB this year it is just a matter of time. I will say this again, Mangini can not just arbitrarily fire Chad. He was voted on as Capt. of the team and is looked upon as a leader. Say what you want but it is not an easy decision. Coaches have lost teams for quite less. It is a delicate balance to be sure. He is not Parcells, BB, M. Shanahan with all this history and or goodwill built up where he has Carte Blanche with the players. He is still a young coach but not stupid. This decision is going to define his tenure for the next year or two or longer. I am cool with giving Chad another week or two because this team is just not playoff caliber right now anyhow. If that means taking a step back for a couple weeks to take a giant leap forward for the future so be it. But root to lose............ F that.
The Jets are 1-4, in Chad's starts they are is 1-3. Last year he threw one more touchdown (17) then he threw interceptions (16). This year he has thrown one more touchdown (6) than he has thrown intercetpions (5). He has only played in 4 of the 5 games thus far this season and is still tied for 12th most interceptions. In 2006 the Jets ranked 18th in points per game. This year they rank rank 19th in points per game. Chad is a consistently average quarterback in this league. Ever since shoulder surgery #2 his interceptions have crept way up to almost equaling his touchdowns thrown. While I agree with you that he has driven us to playoffs, you have to be able to admit that his production and effectiveness is on a dangerously downward slopping trajectory. It's time for change...
You can take all those stats and shove them straight up your ass. I can pull stats out too on Chad but I don't want to read your whining about inflated Chad stats. Root for the team to win. Every freaking game. I don't give a crap if Chad decides to rip off his own arm and hit the ball baseball style into the end zone. A win is a god damn win where I am from! Who the freak are you people?!?! When Kellen wins the job from Chad (and it looks like that is a definite possibility very soon) then get behind him an show some support. But this crap is down right embarrassing. Show some class for gods sake! Is that to much to ask from New York Jets fans? Well it is not to much to ask from me. I will always cheer the team on and root for the Jets to win. Because thats the kind of fan I am. What kind of fan are you?
Yeah, if I were to pull out Chad stats you would not tell me what I could do with those? In fact I know what I could do with those, but I am not going to start a thread on a JETS FAN WEBSITE explaining why I want the Jets starting QB to throw picks. If you need a definition of how to show class as a fan, just let me know. It begins with showing a little dignity and pride when your team wins games. It has nothing at all to do with rooting for your starting quarterback to throw picks during a game and risking the team losing the game. You need to me to spell it out for you don't you? I mean come on, you really believe your showing class by starting a thread like this?
Let me ask you a question buddy. If you knew that by losing one or two games now, it would lead to a higher record overall for the season and put your team in a much stronger position heading into the next season, would you take those one or two seasons? I sure would. Now, we don't know that this would happen, but it is my belief that if Chad had another game and if that one more bad game forces management to consider a change at QB and KC gets the experience he needs this year, we'll be in much better shape heading into the future. You may not agree with that opinion, but it is non the less and opinion. Doesn't make me or the dozens of other people who on this thread support the same thing bad fans, but rather realistic fans about what Chad's upside is as our offensive leader is. This is short term pain versus a long term gain philosophy. That's all, no reason to question my class as a person or fan
The longer Chad stays in the Further we are from a Championship. Can someone please tell me what good will come out of him staying in at this point?
mangini is a douche, he has no balls and that is the only reason i can think of behind not making the switch. pennington isnt worth a rookie contract and is due over 7 mil against the cap next year. fuck him move on. clemens play in the ravens game showed me enough he adds a whole nother dimmension to the offense, and a pretty important one. throwing the ball over 15 yards! holy shit! did he just say 15 yards!? what worries me even more is sour grapes chad being a unhelpful prick once clemens replaces him just like the ravens game.
Some of this crap you guys come up with cracks me up. If he loses his job he's entitled to be pissed off about it, but I really doubt based on his past that he's going to be a dick to anyone. I'm sure he'll be the consummate teammate he's always been. Much like when he was at Marshall and helping Leftwich along even though he was the starter. Much like he's been an asset to Clemens already. The way some of you believe in Clemens it makes me wonder why you even think he needs Penny's help on the sideline.
Penny had his helmet on in the Ravens game. How disrespectful is that. If Chad was the team player he claims to be he would bench himself. He would say Coach I can't do it any more let me help the kid from the sidelines for the rest of the year.
Clemens had his helmet on this past week. I think it might be protocol for the Jets. MT had an earpiece, but Clemens had his helmet on when the Jets were on offense just like Chad did in Baltimore. Spin things however you want, but you guys are blowing this whole thing way out of proportion.
good for them. thats why theyre still 1-4. the staff can blow me. let Mangini continue with his "Lovie Smith Syndrome" and let Schotty JR keep the playcalling vanilla.
