...even though there are likely to be many more this year. But if Chad has another 3 interception, no zip on the ball, can't lead the team to touchdowns kind of a day against the Eagles, than we're likely to see KC sooner rather than later. We may still look bad once he takes over, but at least it will be with the hope of a fully armed quarterback developing and gaining experience for a hopeful momentum swing to the positive in 2008. Sorry Chad, you're a good guy, but you've taken us as far as you physical limitations can. I hope you suck on Sunday so it starts solidifying the idea of making a move to Clemens in Mangini's mind. We need a fresh start much like we did when you took over for Vinny T. In the "glass half full" category, I think the Vikings need a quarterback!
Better scenario: Jets defense shows up for business on Sunday, but offense falters two or three straight drives. Mangini benches Pennington and starts Clemens, Clemens starts throwing rockets all over the place leaving the Eagles completely helpless. Jets win in good fashion. Jets go on to have good season despite early failings.
It's really sad but it's almost reached the point that I'm rooting for a bad day out of Chad also. There are so many decisions that the current CS and FO are faced with at the moment and I'm terrified he'll have one more good game in here somewhere and lead the Jets to an actual win and bury Clemens until mop up time at the end of the year. If he'd gotten poor field position against the Dolphins instead of starting three drives on the 40 or better he'd probably already have been benched. Then again, we'd be 0-5 and that'd just suck.
QFT. No matter how bad this season is... even if we finish 2-14... if two of our wins come against the Dolphins, then how bad could the season truly have been?
There should be no reason to root against the team you follow. I know people want Clemens in there, which is fine, but you should still be cheering on the team. Wanting your team to lose is foolish.
Again, that is foolish. You cheer your team on to win, NO MATTER WHAT. Sure, you may want to see Clemens in there, but rooting against your own team is not being a true fan IMO.
It doesn't work that way. Pats went 4-12 Bellis first year. They continued to play like that until the miracle relevation of Tom Brady (thank you Mo Lewis  ). It takes chemistry, momentum, and the right mentality. If the Jets pack it in, then as a group they don't have the grain to ever go the distance. Changes should and will be made over time, but as a whole them continuing to win will be more beneficial than them losing and us getting high draft picks.
I had to laugh when I read the title of this thread. You are hoping for one more bad Sunday. So the opposite of that would be no more bad Sundays and we win our next 11 games, end up 12-4, zip thru the playoffs, go to the SB and win. I'll take either.
Every day I look in the Jets forum and think it can't be as bad as yesterday. And every day I learn it can be. Hoping to do badly... hoping to lose... hoping smoeone sucks really bad? I feel like less of a fan for having read it.
I hope we win, but Chad has a Romo/Grossman like performance. I love Chad and all he's done, but Clemens needs to start as soon as possible.
I hope Pennington throws 4 touchdowns and 0 interceptions and the Jets win 31-28 on a Nugent 54 yard field goal. That would be bad ass.
I've learned that when you're a Jets fan you don't need to waste time hoping for another bad Sunday. They just come along anyway. I still can't bring myself to hope that Chad plays badly. If I'm going to waste time hoping I'll waste it hoping for a miraculous return to his 2002 form. I do, however, think that the Jets need to see what KC has before the end of this season, just so they know how to attack the 2008 draft. If that process starts this week, so be it, but it will be a strange mixture of sadness and excitement if/when the Pennington era ends.
Ask the Broncos this year. Basically forfeited the playoffs last year and many on here was saying what a great thing that was. Well, they just lost their center for the season, defense is terrible, RB is going to be suspened for a year. It is working very well. Have you ever thought the Jets were a crappy franchise in the past because of fans like jetfighter who wants their team to lose. I am sorry, but if the coaching staff doesn't feel Clemens is better than Pennington playing at his normal level, then what do we gain if Pennington plays like crap and we get Clemens. I would feel much better about this whole deal if Clemens impressed the CS enough to beat out a good playing Pennington, ala Steve Young and Montana, instead of Pennington playing so bad that he plays himself out of the job.
We're a crappy franchise because of the fans. Right. Denver didn't work well because their cornerback died, they've had injury problems on both sides of the ball, and they overrated their own talent slightly. Going to Cutler was the absolute right move last year. Are we winning with Chad this year? No. Are we winning with Chad next year? Very doubtful. And he's not going to improve. Kellen showed me more in the 4th quarter against Baltimore than Chad has showed me in the last 2 seasons in the 4th quarter.
Fans don't cause their teams to win or lose, they just watch the results of the games and react to them. The Jets have been a crappy franchise because for the most part they've had crappy management and coaching. That's just the way it is. We're standing at another junction here, one of the few in Jets history, where we really don't know if our management team is crappy or decent. A few more weeks like the last 5 though and we'll know.
