You know I have given much thought to your post that you have been a fan since 71 & have gotten nothing in return whereas in my case going back to 65did give me the the thrill of seeing them win it all so I have to agree that you have suffered more then me. I spoke about this with my son circa 77 & he feels exactly the same way you do on this subject.

As for CP I am of the belief that EM is allowing CP to play himself out of the position because he is still consider god like among some NYJ fans so that as it becomes more & more obvious he is done less & less NYJ fans will complain when the switch is made to KC

If we loose this week I dont think the uproar will be that bad at all. The thing that drives me crazy is Chad comments that He's progressing more in the long passing game. HUh are you kiding me , He sounds so disconnected from where he really is . Reminds me of a cancer patient that Has to keep a good attidude to keep healing.

You hit the nail on the head with this one. Chad is considered an Icon to a lot of Jet fans. I really looked around and noticed all the 10 Jerseys in the stadium at the game this past weekend. There is no logical reason for him to be starting. I think that they want him to stink so bad that the fans, Media and Guys in the locker room can not complain when he is finally put on the shelf for good. I guess the feel if they get 8 games out of Clemens they can evaluate him going forward.

I agree this is what's happening and it disturbs me because it tells me Mangini does not have the balls to do what's right for the Jets.

If he needs to wait until less than 5% of the fans think Chad should be at QB to make the switch then he's just not doing the job of an NFL coach.

And what happens if Chad has one last good game in him and the Jets beat Buffalo in a few weeks? Does that mean that we don't see Clemens at all this year?

I'm really horrified at how weak Mangini seems this year after seeming so strong last season. Watching Mangini this year vs last year is like watching Vinny in 2000 vs 1998 or watching Chad in 2004 vs 2002.

Why does this stuff always happen to us? Other franchises either suck or hit a turning point and they're good for a half generation. We get these little teases that then inevitably evaporate and the team yo-yos between just good enough and poor.

I highly doubt a competent head coach would let the fans dictate who is the starter.

Once again, message boards do not effect the team.

A competent coach does not get to the point that the average fan is trying to dictate who his starting QB is.

Name ONE coach who had the fans down on his starting QB after his first couple of seasons in the NFL, stuck with the guy, and did not wind up fired or in the basement. I can't think of any offhand.

Once the fans have decided the QB is no good anymore and started the booing campaign everybody is just waiting for the fat lady to sing, first for the QB and then likely for the coach.

I am not saying he should not switch. I am disputing champs assertion that mangini is keeping Chad in just to "stick it to the Chad supporters".

I read Champs post as being more along the lines of Mangini doesn't have the balls to make the switch while any significant number of Jets fans think Chad should be in there.

I might have read it wrong though.

In any case, Mangini is clearly having problems making a necessary change at the moment. Whether that is due to his own delusions about the Jets competitive chances this year or his fears of being seen as having made the wrong move we clearly have a problem at the moment.

This is not Green Bay and Chad is not Brett Favre. The decision should flow smoothly from what we have seen and yet it is not.

You read it exactly correct. Similar analogy to the Nixon resignation over Watergate. Once the hue & cry got to much Nixon realized his jig was up. Man is doing the same thing IMHO with CP letting him go out there on the limb until CP goes to far out the limb breaks & CP goes away. Bloodless way to make the change. Done in the office world every day of the week

i remember the game in 93 i think at giants stadium.....esiason, mitchell, etc etc.....

the jets had built a juicy lead with mitchell running all over the field and then......pop.......

the air starting coming out of the balloon slowing only to gather speed until - thats right - the jets blew the lead and eventually the game.

that game epitomizes the history of the jets, classic

I think it was established on another site that the Eagles version has been around longer then the Jets version.

I more like to harken back to not just one game, but to the 86 season when the Jets and my hero Ken O'brien were the toast of the town, they could do no wrong flying high and off to a 10-1 start.

Well that 10-6 finish was painful to watch, and then that loss in the playoffs to the Browns in double OT!! ahhhh!! what agony!! The true essence of Jetsdom..

The point is phile is about 1.5 hours from giants stadium. This game is barely a away game for the eagles. Its not like its hard to score tickets to a jets game. I expect alot of eagles fans and if the game turns into a blow out it could be bad
