You talk a big game and bring very little to the table in terms of knowledge or even ability to carry on an intelligent debate about football. I doubt you could coach a pee-wee team. But you could probably play on one.

13 pounds seperates harris from vilma's playing weight. i bet their quickness compared, isnt close and favors vilma, so why get rid of him without getting rid of harris too? think vilma is a weakling? i doubt very much he is, id say pound for pound as strong as any man on team.

I've already tried debating something with you but you chose the Nanny-Nanny Boo-Boo-I-Know-Than-You defense so I now know that it is a waste of time. Go argue with junc, that would at least provide some entertainment value.

"No I know more than you!"
"No no no, I know more than you!"
"No! I know so much! I coach the Community College of My Imagination!"

i didnt say i knew more than anyone. he tried to pull that "i did this" and "i know that" crap, so i told him a little about myself. i am not a head coach or coordinator, nor do i pose as one. i'm a graduate assistant at an naia school, as linebackers coach. i played as a linebacker and i do understand 1/2 second means more than 13 pounds. i was a heavy linebacker and would have loved to had vilma's speed. i do love to argue, who doesnt when opinions dont match? do you want vilma gone?

While I would hate to see Vilma go, if this CS is committed as it seems to be to the 3-4, then I don't see what keeping Vilma here as an above-average ILB will do for the team when we can get solid value for him and build off of it. I personally think the guy is a hell of a leader and a student of the game, but ruining the better part of his career with a scheme he is not suited for is not the way I want my team leaders contribute. Vilma is a fantastic MLB for a defense that can keep blockers off of him to wreak havoc, but it will be a few years before we can solidify a group like that.

here is my best attempt at a legitimate gripe, for him staying..... we all agree he is a hell of a player. but he is completely overwhelmed by the change to the 3-4, he has never played it that i know of, atleast not here or in college. why cant we give him time to learn it all? he is the signal caller, and this only doubles his troubles. maybe harris can lighten his load in this department? it was new to barton as well but he is one mean acting s.o.b., he overcomes some of his mistakes with aggression and effort. this isnt vilma's style either, he just does his job. whats your take abyzmul?

Have you actually watched Vilma and Harris take on blocks? Honestly it is night and day. A guard goes up to block harris and harris stands his ground sometimes pushing him back. Conversely, a guard does that to vilma and he is knocked at least 3 yards back. Barton on the other hand is playing terribly as well. I would love to move Victor Hobson inside with harris for next year, and draft a capable DE/OLB hybrid for next year. Barton and Vilma are rendered absolutely useless in this system, and frankly i think Barton is over the hill in any defense he's put in. The guy can't get to the ball anymore.

I don't think the problem has to do with Vilma's ability to learn the defense at all. He is a stellar student in the classroom by all accounts and spends much time in the film room. His problem is also not how many stones tip the scale for him. His problem is his physical frame and the fact that he is a finesse linebacker. He was a small player for MLB in the 4-3 base but was able to overcome that because he was facing mostly tight ends and fullbacks at the LOS and has elite speed for LB, mostly due to his size. Now he's facing guards and tackles and that speed doesn't mean much. In order for him to be effective at all, we will need so many things to go right it's almost completely unrealistic. That's a gamble that I don't think an NFL franchise should take if it wants to compete.

Simple. You run a defense according to the players you have on ur team instead of just running a defense b/c its the same one the patriots use.
